Controversy and questionable source[edit]

The last sentence in the article says Brice is the subject of a controversy but does not explain what it is. The source cited is an anonymously-authored website article which contains derogatory material. Is there any reason why this sentence should not be deleted?Lacewing 01:11, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I undid your deletion, because the controversy is of interest to readers. The source, ExWeb/mounteverest.net is a note-worthy, independent source of news on expeditions, and it is used by Reuters, BBC, AP, NYT and others. ExWeb is authored and run by Tina and Thomas Sjögren. I agree that the controversial material should remain. Explorer's Web is likely the most indepth and trustworthy exploration and adventure news source available. It should also be mentioned that Brice is part of the heat regarding the shootings of Tibetans on Nagpa La late last year. He was against the release of the information and video and actually treated the Chinese soldiers for snowblindness not long after the shootings and was outraged at Luis Benitez, the man who finally had the courage to take the story public. Both of these mentioned situations are discussed in the May 2008 issue of Outside Magazine. It should be noted that the web site Explorers Wed has had very little if any input from Mr. Brice.
