Nothing whatsoever against the guy himself. Good on 'im for the good he's done and tried to do.

That said, it was his dropping out of the race and nothing to do with his disregard for his hired political flacks that caused him to finish south of 20%. Anything we can do to shed more light on his reasons is welcome. This article says that it "was later discovered that the man who told Perot about the plots actually made it up, in an effort to discredit Bush." I've never seen that before: it doesn't name Scott Barnes; Perot may have been exaggerating but at the time claimed he'd heard it from at least 2 friends and a "top Republican" and then Scott Barnes plus "two highly-placed Republicans"; and MentalFloss doesn't meet WP:BLP WP:RS. That said, if a reliable source did finally prove that, we should include and cite that article. — LlywelynII 01:13, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

The Baltimore Sun published words to that effect:[1], and so did the NY Times.[2] Others say he made it all up.Santamoly (talk) 06:46, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Can someone add a reference to Dana Carvey's spot-on impression on Saturday Night Live in the 1990's? You have not heard one thing I have said. Thanks. 2601:645:4301:5360:5929:C35:7759:9961 (talk) 14:41, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
