Civil Parish[edit]

"Rookley as a civil parish was formed in 1974 by carving a chunk out of the then larger parish of Godshill (1972 Local Govt Act)", stated Michael Taplin, Clerk to Rookley Parish Council.

Please realize that Wiki is heavily used those of us who are researching our ancestors. Therefore it is important that you place facts like governmental jurisdiction in their applicable time frame. Stating that Rookley is a civil parish is misleading, considering it has been so for only 37 years of its long history. Most of the more recently submitted Wiki articles have been quite good at that, at least in the US. 76.218.100.214 (talk) 22:31, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
