This could be extended a lot. For instance by adding content from de:Laterne (Architektur). Cheers, Horst-schlaemma (talk) 09:02, 17 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merger of Cupola into this article[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
The result of this discussion was no support for merge. Just becuse some roof lantern have domed tops (κύπελλον) is no reason to merge with roof lanterns. . Aspro (talk) 23:12, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Both seem to deal pretty much with the same item. If cupola was to be moved here the linguistic description of the term "cupola" should be kept. Or should "roof lantern" be merged into "cupola"?

Merge roof lantern into cupola. I think roof lantern is a subset of cupola, colloquial and regionally specific. Bangabandhu (talk) 04:16, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Also, not sure about finial - that article could at least mention cupola/roof lantern. Bangabandhu (talk) 04:18, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Why? Not the same at all. Johnbod (talk) 16:08, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose They are not the same thing. Most cupola lanterns are raised on a drum, & many lanterns are not cupola-shaped. Johnbod (talk) 16:08, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
