band line-ups[edit]

Given Scott's importance on the UK jazz scene of the 50s and 60s, especially, I think it might be interesting to include a sub-section of the line-ups of the various bands he led and/or recorded with. A veritable who's who of British jazz. Technopat 19:16, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quite agree. Also who was the co-owner of his club? Presumably the mysterious 'King' mentioned only as having continued running the club after Ronnie's death. Fairlightseven

The mysterious "King" referred to was Pete King, who does not yet appear to have a dedicated Wikipedia article. Regs. --Technopat 18:42, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Should have added Pete King, the tenor sax player, not Peter King, the alto sax player. Regs. --89.6.69.126 17:36, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Private Life[edit]

I'm struggling to find out anything about his private life. It would be intersteing to find out more about the man behind the performer. I understand he has a surviving step-daughter, but little else. Presumably he was married? How many times and who to? Children?

A Fine Kind of Madness: Ronnie Scott Remembered by his daughter Rebecca and ex-partner/wife Mary came out in 1999. Alan Plater's much earlier novel Misterioso is a Roman à clef about Scott's difficult relationship with his daughter. Philip Cross (talk) 22:43, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bad metric conversion[edit]

In the section "Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club," there is a problem with the metric-to-imperial conversion of the hoarding on Frith Street. Was it 12 metres square, or 12 square metres? There's a difference. 12 metres square would be 144 square meters, equivalent to 1,549 square feet. More than likely it was 12 square metres, or 129 square feet. Apparently the author used a simple linear conversion of metres to feet, but that doesn't work for area. I will not make this edit myself, as I am unsure of the base information. 66.191.31.2 (talk) 22:22, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
