2018 project status?[edit]

There seems to be very little secondary sourcing available on this project - at least in English. Much of the updating comes from the project sponsor's Twitter page. Earlier this year NPR reported that the project showed evidence of financial distress: few workers, almost empty dormitories, cranes standing still. Construction was halted for the Spring Festival and now two months later there is no update on a resumption of actual construction work. On April 3rd the Twitter page only mentioned that "discussions" were taking place regarding the interior design. (Wasn't that already worked out?) I even tried the Wuchang Shipyard web site but that's outdated and with very little in English. It appears that construction never resumed after the Spring Festival.

Does anybody here have any suggested ways to improve the sourcing on this article? Since this is not to be a functioning ship it doesn't fall under the jurisdiction of any international regulatory authorities that we can use for sourcing. Blue Riband► 22:28, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As of June 4, 2018 Romandisea has yet to provide an update on whether or not construction has resumed after it had been halted for the Spring Festival. Blue Riband► 16:09, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
On July 5th the developer updated their Twitter page with "A Visit by the German Titanic Society". However the group image shown is undated and the construction status appears to be unchanged from their January 21st post. Blue Riband► 17:18, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. I suggest waiting until there is some reliable sources or news reports to reference for this apparent slowdown in construction. Thanks, trainsandtech (talk) 10:05, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Also, www.imaginechina.com , which was previously posting monthly photos showing progress in construction (search “Titanic construction”) hasn’t got any new photos of the ship since 15 April. Perhaps it’ll ultimately go the same way as all the other failed titanic rebuild projects. Thanks, trainsandtech (talk) 10:08, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Two more months and still no update on construction status. No updates on Romandisea's Twitter page and no new images on imaginechina.com. Looks like the developers are out of money by going this long without building progress reports. Blue Riband► 17:01, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
www.imaginechine.com has new images dated October 8th, but the outward appearance of the ship doesn't seem different from the April 15th images. No sign of any human workers in sight and the cranes don't appear to be in any different positions. Perhaps the images are shot before the day's work shift has started? No twitter updates from Romandisea either. About all we can do for now is keep and eye on it and see if some English language media outlet picks up news on the halt/slowdown. Here it is November and still no update from the developer. Anything other than talk and more talk going on? After reaching F deck in the spring of 2018 there should have been some superstructure work by now. At what point do we say that construction is halted? It's hard to find a RS for a non-event. To date we have only our own observations from the imaginechina.com site. Blue Riband► 02:30, 5 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just updated the article with citations to April and October images of the construction site. I don't see any obvious differences. Although it's impossible to say that nothing is going on RS indicate that construction was halted in February and not resumed. Blue Riband► 14:28, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Page move proposal[edit]

Should the page be moved to Romandisea Titanic? This appears to be the project's official name. trainsandtech (talk) 08:06, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Support page move as "Romandisea Titanic" is the name being used by the project developers on their official social media sites. Blue Riband► 12:36, 9 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Project halted?[edit]

Up until October the official website for this project was showing weekly construction updates. A few weeks ago updates were frozen at March 2020 and now appears to be offline altogether. Clicking on their URL now shows simple black text in Chinese that translates into the web address as being unregistered. Their Twitter page has not been updated since June. Does anybody with more expertise in searching Chinese language sites know what is going on? Is the project out of money? Blue Riband► 03:54, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There are press reports of several incomplete and abandoned amusement projects in China but nothing specific about the Romandisea park or the replica Titanic. Their social media has not been updated since May 2021. Their official web page was stuck in July 2021 and now is offline. It looks like this project is among those that ran out of money. Unfortunately there doesn't seen to be any way that we can update this article as we have zero reliable sources to report what is happening.Blue Riband► 04:20, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Blue Riband Noted. News reports from August 2021 talk of the ship “rusting”. Regards, thorpewilliam (talk) 12:17, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I saw that too but the report was in the UK Daily Mail which is a deprectated source.Blue Riband► 12:57, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I saw it was also in the Sun, but I didn’t read the article. thorpewilliam (talk) 13:22, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
