Wal-Mart rumors[edit]

I would just like to apoligize to anyone who might've been upset about me posting up info about Rogers Flea Market & Auction closing at the end of the month as a result of Wal-Mart buying the property for a distribution center. The owners of the auction were the ones who reverted the edit and confirmed that those rumors were false.

I had heard rumors from a variety of people that Wal-Mart had bought the property and was closing the flea market at the end of the month to build a distribution center, and I was simply stating it on here. After talking to the owners over the phone (at their request, in order to clear up the rumors), they stated that Wal-Mart has never even contacted them, let alone inquire about buying the property. They are currently looking for the source of the rumor.

This, of course, is not the first time something similar to this has come up, as a number of years back it was rumored that Wal-Mart was going to buy the property to build a Wal-Mart Supercenter. They ended up opening the Wal-Mart in nearby Chippewa Township, Pennsylvania to take advantage of Ohio residents buying food & clothing without having to pay sales tax for those items, as according to Pennsylvania state law, but the proximity to Rogers didn't help matters either.

I, personally, hope that Rogers Flea Market & Auction remains open for many more years to come, as I am a fan of the place myself. I would not like to see people whose livelihood is self-employing them in the market having to be forced to either find another place to sell their items or find traditional employment.

Again, I'm sorry for any confusion.Jgera5 21:10, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
