Constant references to Battlefield Earth being his best known work...[edit]

I think the contributor constantly re-asserting that Mr. Christians best known work is Battlefield Earth needs to be examined & stopped. In the community of filmmakers and fans, Mr. Christians best known work (simply google his name) is his Academy Award winning work on Star Wars and his nominated work on Alien.

Asserting his "best known work" was a "critical failure" is contradictory - if it had been his best known work, it would have had been seen by more people, and thus not a critical failure.

Additionally, the needless inclusion of references to John Travolta & Scientology links seems to indicate the desire to connect Mr. Christian to Scientology - which has no place in his filmography - and unless cited I do not believe Mr. Christian is a Scientologist.

A quick Google search for Roger Christian...the first entry in Google [1] states Roger Christian Director: Battlefield Earth.TeapotgeorgeTalk 20:59, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I welcome all new editors to Wikipedia as your contributions are highly-valued. I do find it remarkable that all of the "Bmcinroy" edits to date have been on this article and its talk page, edits remarkably similar to those made by a user purporting to be Roger J. Christian himself. As to the "best known" issue, the Battlefield Earth movie was his first big-budget major motion picture as a director and received significant media and cultural attention. His laudable work on Star Wars and Aliens, among others, is also worthy of mention in the lede but to excise all mentions of Battlefield Earth would be like writing an article about Senator John Glenn that did not mention his career as an astronaut. - Dravecky (talk) 21:25, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have read these comments. firstly i am not nor ever have been connected to the Church of Scientology, nor ever will be. However in a democratic country every individual has the right to follow whatever philosophy or religion they choose. My Feature film Nostradamus gained far more recognition and publicity. Star Wars and Alien too as the other reader pointed out, includiong my directing 2nd Unit on Phantom Menace. you seem determined to put biased opinions on my site about me, and your intentions to keep doing so betray your purpose to denigrate.

For your information the financier of Battlefield Earth, Elie Samaha, has stated the BE has earned well over 150 million dollars for a meagre budget of 44 million dollars and is thus more profitable than most hollywood fare. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rogerjchristian (talkcontribs) 19:18, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can see no mention of any connection to the Church of Scientology in the article? My only concern is that the article is neutral and backed by reliable secondary sources I have no axe to grind.TeapotgeorgeTalk 19:37, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, I have strived to incorporate the factual, encyclopedic parts of the promotional text that has been repeatedly added to this article without citation or attribution. I've also added references to the article, including a link to a defense of Battlefield Earth Roger Christian wrote in 2000. I see no evidence that Nostradamus is a better known film in the English-speaking world and, indeed, the article for that film is utterly unreferenced. I'm trying to make this article better but it's not a personal promotional page and it must discuss the elephant in the room. - Dravecky (talk) 20:08, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

thats your personal opinion and you obviously have a negative slant towards me. My career is long and successfull and still is. Nostradamus has grossed well over a hundred million dollars since its release in 92 so therefore is a major contribution to cinema as are all my other credits. I referenced unbiased imdb pro for that and also for Black Angel i referenced a serious online article It is not for personal ego, purely facts, and what is included by me is factual career work. I think you should gain some respect for individuals and certainly stop this unfair bias, Wikipidia is an unbiased and democratic site and i have been given permission to add the material i am adding, and by you constantly deleting serious facts it shows your intentions. Actions speak louder than words. I suggest you go make a movie and try, rather than posting negatives about other serious filmmakers who at least go out there and do it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rogerjchristian (talkcontribs) 22:10, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
