Stow and Newark[edit]

I intended to wikilink these two town ...

In the "Early life" section the article mentions Stow. Is this Stow-on-the-Wold?
In the "Bishop under Stephen" section the town of Newark is mentioned. Is this Newark-on-Trent? Aa77zz (talk)

Neither source specifies ... there are at least two prebends in the diocese of Lincoln alone which were known as Stow - and it's not sure he held that prebend in Lincoln. Sorry! Ealdgyth - Talk 17:53, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Jewish moneylender"[edit]

Is it necessary to mention that the moneylender was Jewish? Most or all moneylenders were, as Jews were forbidden to own land or engage in most types of business, while Christians were forbidden to charge interest for a loan. That situation certainly gave rise to, or at least supported, the bigoted stereotype of all Jews as money-hungry usurers, more than willing to cheat Christians. See, e.g., The Merchant of Venice.
