Unnecessary Wikilinks[edit]

Many of the "Wikilinks" in this article seems unnecessary. For example, consider these words which someone has decided needed "Wikilinks":

theatre, America, Jewish, priest, singer, piano, composition, conducting, squint, eye, monocle, top hat, divorced, Italian, London, Germany, England, passports, cough, lung cancer, lung, applause, hospital.

Would a modestly compos mentis person reading this article need to find out what these words mean? And if they did, would they be able to understand the Wikipedia articles about them? - Geronimo20 11:16, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Conflicting information[edit]

What sources agree on:

  • He was born out of wedlock.
  • His mother’s maiden name was Fraulein Elisabeth Denemy and her married name was Frau Elisabeth Seiffert.
  • His father was Richard Anton Tauber, aka Anton Tauber.
  • He was christened Richard Denemy, but he sometimes used the name Ernst Seiffert. Greene’s Biographical Encyclopedia of Composers also says that he was billed for his debut as “Carl Tauber”, and sometimes used the form “C. Richard Tauber”, in order to avoid confusion with his father, who was the Intendant at the Chemnitz Theatre at his debut.

What sources disagree on:

  • [1] says that she was a 43-year old widow with two daughters when Richard came along. It also says that “Anton Tauber had known Elizabeth Denemy for several years, and had wanted to marry her. However, Elizabeth knew that the age difference between them would cause problems for them in the future and had regretfully, but wisely, refused.” She was 43 but he was only 30. The fact that she was a widow would help explain why she gave Richard her maiden name Denemy.
  • However, Greene’s, which seems very well written and researched, says his mother was only 15 when Richard was born. She was still the unmarried Elisabeth Denemy at that time, and only later married Herr Seiffert.
  • Greene's also says he was born in 1892, whereas most other sources sources prefer 1891.

I guess it isn’t all that important to know how old his mother was when he was born, or when she married. We know for certain that his birth name was Richard Denemy, and the names Ernst Seiffert, Carl Tauber and Richard Tauber all came later. But can anyone comment on the above? -- JackofOz (talk) 13:07, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Offspring?[edit]

Did Richard Tauber have any offspring? My father once met an old man who claimed to be Richard Tauber's son, but I can't find anything on the web to back this up. —BMRR (talk) 01:20, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Tauber assaulted[edit]

Greetings

In the 1970s, as a teenager, I met one of the brownshirts who assaulted Tauber in Australia. As I recall this person had a depression in his temple from some type of injury, perhaps a war wound.

In 1933 the world Jewish council declared war against Germany and a blockade against its trade and industry. Germans were aware that after WW1 approximately 800,000 civilians were starved to death in order to coerce Germany into signing the Versailles treaties. Moreover, by then, Germans had come to understand that zionists had conspired to restart WW1, causing huge numbers of German deaths and subsequently were responsible for the Treaties of Versailles, causing more huge numbers of German deaths and ethnic cleansing against them. I do not know the precise cause of their attack against Tauber but naturally general resentment was felt against Germany's Jewish population (which had precisely nothing to do with either their religion or race).

I met Richard Tauber in 1946 in London when he conducted the orchestra at the Palace Theatre , in a production of Die fledermaus, entitled 'Gay Rosalinda'My mother was a professional singer & was in this show with Irene Ambrus as the maid, & Leah Sidle as Rosalinda. I have autographs of all the cast; Tara Barry took over the main role at some time. I watched from the wings many a Saturday afternoon!!He gave me a signed photo of a drawing of himself: 'To little Joy ..........What memories! 2A01:CB15:827B:AE00:8079:A286:4BEF:9F7F (talk) 11:31, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
