Ethnicity[edit]

This edit [1] re-asserts a previously reverted bold edit. I reverted the edit previously because MOS:ETHNICITY says (in note a): There is no preference between describing a person as British rather than as English, Scottish, or Welsh. Decisions on which label to use should be determined through discussions and consensus. The label must not be changed arbitrarily. To come to a consensus, editors should consider how reliable sources refer to the subject, particularly UK reliable sources, and consider whether the subject has a preference on which nationality they identify by. This has not been done so I shall revert out the change again shortly, but this section is the place where the discussion should be had.

I note that the short description says British, and long description says Welsh. That is an inconsistency perhaps, but no discussion has been had, so what we need now are sources demonstrating which is better and these can be made consistent.

I also removed the source added to the lead that reviews his appearance in Poldark and says "Roedd y Cymro Richard Harrington yn chwarae rhan y Capten Andrew Balmey yn y ddrama." Although this Welsh language piece calls him a Welshman, it is entirely unnecessary to add a citation to the lead where it says he is Welsh, when we have it cited in the main that he was born in Merthyr Tydfil. The lead summarises the main, and the citation in the main is, in any case, better. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 08:47, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
