Ethnicity[edit]

What is the ethnic background of Reni or Mani. I can't believe they are just Irish and English, they look like they have middle eastern or asian heritage, only slight. Do you have a source that says he could play 'all of the songs on every instrument', I know he was a very able musician on other instruments but I've never read anywhere that he could play all the songs on every instrument.

Yes, he could. When John Squire broke his collarbone and the Roses had to cancel their gig at Glastonbury. I remember Ian Brown saying on John's possible replacements in Select magazine that, "the only person who could have done it was Reni. He's no John, but he could have done it. in trouble with the law[edit]

for 'obstructive parking'. this must be a joke, i will be taking it out unless someone can flesh out some details: what was he really in trouble for, with sources. if it was a parking offence, it will not be staying in, this is irrelevant to his life as a musician and as a notable public figure Inzy 10:13, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Irrelevant? I would say it displayed his frustration at the time - the guy most people are knowing and saying is the best drummer in the world and the band are stuck in a moronic court case and are banned from recording or playing live. As a result it would hint at his general dissatifcation with it all and another reason why he left the band. 22/02/2011

Reni Hats[edit]

I removed the {{Fact}} tag on the Reni Hat section. This is fairly common knowledge. Even being from North America and never travelling to England, I've heard of this. Asking for a citation on this is like asking for a source that says Canadians refer to a wool hat as a toque. Active years?[edit]

Was Reni playing after the Rub? While it's a shame he didn't continue with them beyond those 2001 gigs in Glasgow, Manchester and especially Leeds (the Rub definitely had something and a little more melody would have made them great), does anyone know if he collaborated with anyone else? I ran into ian in brewer street in 2002, & he told me that reni was playing guitar in a band in which his (reni's) own son was playing the drums. I got the sense that it was for kicks & not stardom/money. ian also said that reni was the only one of the roses he'd stayed in touch with. on an earlier occasion, when IB came to Mtv to do a guest appearance on an afternoon show, he told me that he'd never speak to john again; this was drug-related. he said "I bought a new house for me mam. john bought a mansion for himself." so. people change, I guess.

Football team[edit]

Removed the section about Reni's football team affiliations, which was badly placed in the "Early career" section and is irrelevant. I know Mancs love their football, but this is an article about a drummer and not his allegiance to the blues or reds. Also, whichever dunce on the page edits said I'm Reni editing this - I should imagine he has more interesting things to do with his time. Think logically. Waterfall64 28/02/2019
