Semi-protected edit request on 11 May 2016[edit]

in section "Bayern Munich" change maximum transfer fee of "80 million €" to "45 million €" (apparently misunderstanding of maximum global fee of 45m € as the additional fee, thus >>wrongly<< 35m € + 45m € = 80m €, see citations in original article) 134.100.109.92 (talk) 09:41, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If it's written "potentially rising to €45 million through clauses", it means that Benfica will get an additional €15 million, not €45 million; that is a total €50 million. SLBedit (talk) 13:05, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

First International Call[edit]

The mention to a streaker invading the pitch is unnecessary for the article and shows partiality towards the article, because this event was overly emphasized by the media. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hctiks444 (talkcontribs) 10:09, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so because it was his first match with Portugal. It's notable enough, in my opinion. SLBedit (talk) 12:57, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

Beware of vandalism related to his age due to rumours/gossip/attack from the Portuguese press months ago. This caused the article to be semi-protected three times, back in February and March. SLBedit (talk) 16:48, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Cruks: You better read this. Stop changing the current text, which is supported by the current sources. SLBedit (talk) 17:38, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Protected edit request on 13 May 2016[edit]

In the reference that I submitted it is said (in Portuguese) that the father of Sanches is from Sao Tome and Principe and his mother from Cape Verde. Please change last edit. Cruks (talk) 18:13, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If the Portuguese source is not reliable enough, there is German sources kicker Die Welt — Preceding unsigned comment added by The Almightey Drill (talkcontribs) 19:05, 13 May 2016‎ (UTC)[reply]
Cruks did not only change that. Cruks ignored other users' edits. Cruks ignored the sources and removed one of them. Cruks changed the text "when he was 8" to "when he was 11" (diff, diff). Cruks also changed "2006, aged 9" to "2008, aged 11" (diff, diff). I'm for adding the German sources. SLBedit (talk) 19:22, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
For clarity are you saying you agree that changing the sentence to "Born in Lisbon to parents from São Tomé and Príncipe and Cape Verde" (markup added for clarity) along with adding the Germany source is acceptable? If so, it sounds like there is consensus for this change. BTW, if someone makes an edit you agree with along with some edits you disagree with, it would be helpful to reintroduce this helpful edit rather than continually blindly reverting in a long edit war. Or at the very least, explain what parts of an edit you disagree with before you edit war so much that the article gets protect. (This is an excuse for any problems on the part of others, but rather an acknowledgement it's better for everyone if people work collobrate even when mistakes are made.) Nil Einne (talk) 19:59, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have marked this request as answered since it's not clear that it has consensus or is uncontroversial as it required for such requests. Remember you need that before you make the proposal. Also it's not clear to someone visiting what's being proposed, which is also required for such requests "state UNAMBIGUOUSLY your suggested changes; editors who can edit the protected page need to know what to add or remove".

It seems what you're proposing is to add this modification "Born in Lisbon to parents from São Tomé and Príncipe and Cape Verde" (markup added for clarity) as was partly done here [1] but I only know this because I followed the history a bit.

And I'm still fairly confused what Portugese reference is being referred to as no reference was added in this edit. There is an existing Portugese reference but it wasn't added there and it remains in the article. If the existing ref supports the statement and all that's proposed is what I highlighted then this should be clearly explained in any proposed edit, perhaps with the addition of the German ref if everyone agrees it's helpful.

Feel free to mark the request as unanswered once these issues have been resolved. I suggest when you have consensus someone make a simple summary of the proposed edit.

Nil Einne (talk) 20:08, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Here we go:

"Born in Lisbon to a father from São Tomé and Príncipe and a mother from Cape Verde,[1]"

The reference from Liberal can go, because it only mention his Cape Verdean side.

Cruks SLBedit In one word (yes/no), do you have consensus for this proposed edit? '''tAD''' (talk) 22:45, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I do not agree to the Liberal-reference because the Jornal de Noticias citations sound preferably much better. Cruks (talk) 01:02, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If everyone would read the reference carefully which is written by "Jornal de Noticias"-editors, who had fully access to Renato Sanches documents (as mentioned in the JN-article), there should be no doubt that his father is from Sao Tome and Principe and his mother from Cape Verde. EoD. Cruks (talk) 00:54, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cruks When I said "it can go", I mean it can go in the trash, because it ignores that the father is from Sao Tome. But the Welt article in German mentions him correctly. '''tAD''' (talk) 01:20, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just add the São Tomé and Príncipe part along with the source. SLBedit (talk) 03:45, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Do we have consensus now? I'd quite like to have this full protection removed soon, otherwise we would have to use the talk page just to update his international statistics at the Euros. '''tAD''' (talk) 03:57, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Nil Einne: Consensus reached. SLBedit (talk) 13:17, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Add the Portuguese league title to the Honours section, like this:

===Club===

;Benfica

*[[Primeira Liga]]: [[2015–16 Primeira Liga|2015–16]]

And then move the other two honours to ===Individual=== (below Club). SLBedit (talk) 04:08, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

December 2017 performance vs Chelsea?[edit]

Should Sanches's performance in the match against Chelsea F.C. be mentioned in the article? It was widely reported on1, 2, 3, 4. Inter&anthro (talk) 02:58, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
