Undue weight?[edit]

The "Target killings of Muslim clergy" sticks out as being out of place, overly large, and strangely written. There is no context for it, no indication of those responsible, or why those assasinated were killed, and it seems to comes with a weasily unstated implication that somehow the Abkhaz authorities are involved, despite there being no content in the section that preceeds it that suggests there are any anti-Islamic actions going on inside Abkhazia. I did not add that section, but I did expand it recently and was planning on adding more information in the future. This may explain why perhaps it looks a bit odd. The reason why no perpetrator or motive is given is that this is simply unknown. I don't read any implication of government involvement, but I do think the feeling is that the Muslim community is being targeted. I do think these events are encyclopedic information. I was planning to eventually split this section off as a separate article, perhaps we could do that now. Are there any specific parts of the section that you are not happy about? sephia karta| dimmi 15:19, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This looks like something that is important enough to be covered in this article- but cannot possibly be as important as the weight it seems to hold given that these events are not part of a continued campaign. The excessive length implies some kind of religious persecution of minorities in Abkhazia whereas many other explanations are more likely. I propose to prune the sections and connect all under 1 section. Also the single source (ref 2) for the 2 statements on paganism is a dead link and in any case is part of a website that is a mouthpiece for the Russian govt so I propose to prune that too.--Mevagiss (talk) 14:12, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I tend to agree with you about the "Killings of Muslim clergy section". Regarding the traditional religion, source #1 also confirms that there is a sizeable pagan minority. Even if the site where source #2 is located has some bias, I don't think it should affect its coverage of religion in Abkhazia. Of course if they lie about the author or the provenance of the article, we should remove this source. Alæxis¿question? 19:00, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have combined most of the sections to focus on the facts as presented in the sources and to bear in mind the lack of evidence for anything more than the actual crimes themselves. I also renamed the section as no clergy as such are the victims of violence here. I also simplified the expression and removed redlinks.Next I shall look for a better source for Ref #2--Mevagiss (talk) 20:15, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
