Merge template[edit]

Somebody placed a template to merge LGBT matters and religion into the Religion and homosexuality and Transgenderism and religion articles. I have placed a template to merge those articles into this article, as the topic would be better served by one article giving coverage of all aspects of LGBT matters and religion than two - one for homosexuality and one for transgenderism. Article titles - centralized discussion[edit]

A LOT of the articles in this topic area fall foul of our WP:Article titles policy, which tells us to avoid titles containing "and". These articles will need to be retitled to comply with the policy, but I will leave it to the editors who regularly work in this topic area to determine what they should be retitled to. I think at least some of these would fall into the "no reasonable overarching title is available" exception named in that policy. For instance, the content of Homosexual behavior and Judaism (which is a bad title for other reasons, but) is all obviously related to the intersection of Judaism and homosexuality, which is significant and has been documented by many sources, but narrowing the topic to "LGBT Jews" or "the Tanach + Talmud's mentions of homosexuality" or "homophobic views of Jews" would all exclude things that belong in the article. –Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 15:32, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The policy appears to be aimed mostly at articles containing two complementary topics, such as big- and little-endian numbering systems covered in the same article. LGBT and X religion topics are not that.

"Life and death" is given as an acceptable title, so we know that exceptions exist.

Finally, the policy which applies to this series of articles says that "titles containing 'and' are often red flags that the article has neutrality problems or is engaging in original research: avoid the use of 'and' in ways that appear biased." All we have to do to is make certain that the article titles do not contain bias and we have satisfied the policy. There is nothing that needs to be done here. Blueboar, that are many Wikipedia articles with "and" in the their titles, and these titles are usually valid/needed. Or if not needed, usually better with "and" in them. And I'm not simply talking about the names of films, television shows, books or plays. Yes, I'm using a WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS argument in this case; that's because I think it's valid in this case. Article Titles of Each Religion[edit]

The main page title for each religion/faith has a different format - can we make them the same in some format like "<insert faith> and sexual orientation"? Please, a blurb for each religion[edit]

Just a brief few sentences would be useful to give this article an overview of LGBT issues for most major religions. At this time there are only forward references for the East Asian religions:

   Confucianism — Main article: LGBT topics and Confucianism
   Shinto — Main article: LGBT topics and Shinto
   Taoism — Main article: Homosexuality in China

as well as those grouped as "Other" religions:

   Scientology — Main article: Scientology and sexual orientation
   Vodou — Main article: Haitian Vodou and sexual orientation
   Wicca — Main article: Wicca and LGBT people
   Zoroastrianism — Main article: Zoroastrianism and sexual orientation

Gay god section[edit]

I haven't seen any source of the sources in the section that calls Tu'er Shen gay god. I tried searching in Google I also didn't find any source that calls him gay god.--SharabSalam (talk) 13:07, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Religion and LGBT people[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Religion and LGBT people's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
