Title[edit]

Should the title use the "ü" as in the name of the second discoverer: "Reis-Bücklers corneal dystrophy"?

Decades ago, we were told to always drop any accents from foreign names incorporated into new English terms. That was a practical response to their unavailability on the typewriters and printer's fonts of the day. However, it was also an accommodation to the fact that most English speakers wouldn't know what sounds the accented letters represented, and would therefore be unsure how to pronounce them; which may still be true. With modern tech, including smartphones and video apps, however, the case for dropping the accents may now be weaker. yoyo (talk) 03:23, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
