Sourcing[edit]

This entire section

"It is also important to mention that among the rank and file of the New York City Police Department, Commissioner Kelly is universally despised for how he treats those who work for him. His micro managment of the department and his constant drive for results have evolved into a system of quotas in almost every aspect of the job. In one instance, the Commissioner was desperate to appease minorities in a neighborhood where a white officer had shot a young black male. Before the officer had even been interviewed or the incident had been fully investigated, Commissioner Kelly went on the evening news and stated that the shooting "appeared to be unjustified". The officer was later cleared of all charges, but the damage among cops was done. However, he has also received praise for revamping the department into a world class counter-terrorism operation. Prior to September 11th, 2001 there were fewer then two dozen officers working on terrorism full time; today, there are over 1,000."

should be sourced or removed, as it appears to be walking a fine line.

Not to mention that most of it's opinion anyway and should be removed to deal with NPOV. 198.96.32.149 00:02, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This entire piece reads like a bag of ass and is shoddily sourced.--Mike - Μολὼν λαβέ 00:11, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This ridiculous section...

"Reducing crime As the 37th Commissioner, Kelly saw a reduction of crime that started. Crime continued to go down as Kelly aggressively pursued quality of life issues, such as the “squeegee men” that had become a sign of decay in the city.[citation needed]"

...should be removed. Ray Kelly never "aggressively pursued quality of life issues." If he did, please provide an actual source. Otherwise, stop crediting Raymond Kelly with things that happened at the direction of Commissioner Bill Bratton under the Giuliani administration. ----PopeyeTheSailorman

Image of Ray Kelly in Vietnam[edit]

This is a photograph of Ray Kelly, in uniform, in Vietnam, under the heading Military. That is an appropriate use under WP:FUC #8. Please add the picture back. Thank you. Ob713 11:35, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV[edit]

This guy has presided over one of the most aggressive, crypto-fascist police departments in recent memory (see the RNC mass arrests and West Side concentration camp, assaults on Critical Mass, thee parade permit law, bar and nightclub raids, blah blah and this is just stuff I've seen firsthand), and seems to demand a quota of one dead black man per month, and this article acts like he's a saint. Did his mother write this? --Tothebarricades (talk) 16:34, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The above statements violate the NPOV policy. NPOV flag should be removed.

NPOV[edit]

This "article" is worthy of a stalinian hagiography. It looks like it was written for the Pravda. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.236.2.163 (talk) 20:38, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Political Party[edit]

If you go to this website https://voterlookup.elections.state.ny.us/ you can look up his voter registration. It says he is not enrolled in a party.Racingstripes (talk) 00:36, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Missing Data[edit]

The box of his jobs at upper left has NYPD Chief only ONE time, under Bloomberg, with the calendar-dates of his service for ONLY that tenure. He was NYPD Chief at an earlier time, and you need to get those dates into that box, don't you?76.8.67.2 (talk) 08:24, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Christopher L. Simpson[reply]

WOUNDED WARRIORS[edit]

To: Former Commissioner Raymond Kelly

I am writing in reference to the Wounded Warriors Project. I am a retired New York City Police Officer who has been attending the Wounded Warriors Benefit Dinner in Staten Island for over five years. Mr. Walter Osborn, who has been the Chairman of this event since the beginning has been trying to find a way to communicate with you. I thought I would try also. Mr. Osborn and his excellent staff of volunteers would consider it an honor to have you as their Guest Speaker at next years dinner which is on Wednesday, June 15th at the Staaten Restaurant in Staten Island.

My husband, a retired NYPD Detective served with the Marines stationed on stand-by on the coast of Viet Nam, since his unit were short-timers. He was a member of the Marine Corp League until his death in 2009. I am a member of two 10/13 Organizations and FOP 120 Lodge in Staten Island. I just finished reading a biography on one of your web pages, while trying to locate you. After reading this I really understand what an honor it would be to have you as our Guest Speaker. I hope you will think about this and get in touch with Mr. Walter Osborn, e-mail aufox42@yahoo.com Thank you for any consideration with this matter.

Respectfully yours,

Ellen Bjorkstrom 280 Corbin Avenue Staten Island, N. Y. 10308 718-317-6380
