call for discussion[edit]

I think the passage "Colonel Watt was on a very short list of candidates for promotion to Brigadier General and command of the Army component of the Utah National Guard. He never made the rank." is just puffery. It is my understanding that all officers are considered for promotion to the next highest rank, if they don't retire first, or if they aren't discharged, for cause. So, why assert that Watt was considered for promotion, if this kind of consideration is completely routine?

The paragraph has no reference.

I suggest trimming it. If no one can defend the passage I will trim it, after a reasonable period of time. Geo Swan (talk) 15:26, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
