Why is "true rays" redirected to rajiformes? They keep mentioning "true rays" but no one says what's the difference between true rays and skates. I found a website that explains differences between rays (although they don't call them "true rays") and skates. (138.246.7.136 (talk) 09:48, 28 February 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Mantas?[edit]

Why does this article seem to imply that Manta rays are Rajiformes? This is fairly misleading since even clicking the link you can see that they are classified as Myliobatiformes. Ninjawailer (talk) 10:18, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Ninjawailer's comments. Mantas are not within the Rajiformes order, so the reference to them should be deleted. Any reason why not? Tkemp (talk) 20:03, 8 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article lists 13 families as being part of Rajiformes. This is outdated and even contradictided by Wikipedia's own article on the Batoidea which states that the Rajiformes contains 5 families. This is also contradicted by wikipedia's articles for several of the individual families which are described (correctly) as belonging to the Myliobatiformes. Myliobatiformes?[edit]

This page still contains information about many Myliobatiformes talking about them as if they were Rajiformes. However on the Myliobatiformes it says that they are now considered a monophyletic group, separate to Rajiforms.
