Archive 4[edit]

There were four 2021 posts in /Archive 4 that got archived with a 2017 post by Kmcnamee. Honest mistake, but how do we get by fixing it? I was thinking we could splice the 2017 post to /Archive 3 and do a reverse-move with some sort of admin assist.

My assessment of these 4 posts:

  • Should not be HTTP: lede is currently lax enough for that, I think it's solved.
  • Additional methods: not done still, but to be fair we don't even mention GET and POST. Which could actually be an issue with the 2017 request about the page not having a concrete example.
  • Two complaints about "too technical": Well... we are still talking about the goals with too much text and the structure not enough. But how do we get an example when everyone's disagreeing on what "REST" means? (The architecture pic is very good though.)

I don't know. By reading the comment section after Fielding's 2008 post, I just get more hopeless about this mud puddle. The htmx people do specify an example of a "hypertext-driven" API, but like, who does that? Even the edgy htmx people have conceded that the battle for the "original meaning" is lost. Hi @Artoria2e5!
I archived these posts because they have been addressed as far as possible over the last few years. If there are still issues with the page then please create new posts to specifically address these. There may still be general issues with the pages but there is already a banner on the page for that reason. Kmcnamee (talk) 10:48, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
