A mixed state cascade is the gradual change of a mixed state into another mixed state (usually gradually, thus it happens for a period and not momentarily).

(On the other hand, in complex phenomena like gravity, we certainly have more "mixed state cascades", but intervening pure states (for example bumping particles) do occur at smaller proportions.
