Inaccuracies section

Following some disagreement over whether or not to include this section I thought I'd open a discussion here. Below is the section concerned, followed by a comments section. Thoughts on this are very much welcomed. Thanks TheRetroGuy (talk) 11:11, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Inaccuracies

• In episode 1 an on screen caption states that Bristol is in Avon despite the County of Avon being abolished in 1996.
• The exterior of the theatre shown in "Surrey" is actually the Winter Gardens in Weston-super-Mare.

Comments

I don't see what harm this does providing the information is referenced, as the first fact is. I have a feeling the second fact is also correct, although we should find a reference from a reliable source. TheRetroGuy (talk) 11:11, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

It's not just a matter of whether the information is referenced or not. It also needs to be encyclopaedic and relevant. Have any reliable third party sources connected these facts to the show or are they things that the editors of the article noticed by themselves? I'd be inclined to think the latter. Yes, having checked the references again (and watched the episode again) I'm sort of inclined to agree with you. If this stuff is picked up in the media then we should add it. If not then it might not be such a good idea. TheRetroGuy (talk) 16:31, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Unofficial fansite

Just removed this Unofficial Fansite from the External links because it's only just getting going and I'm not sure whether we should include it at this stage. If it expands it could be a useful resource I suppose. Any thoughts? TheRetroGuy (talk) 20:04, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Unofficial fan sites are generally not included in article. It might be useful to watch this fan site to see if it points to any good references, but I don't think it's reliable enough in its own right to include here. Papa November (talk) 01:35, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Rope homage

In the cast list under David Sowerbutts it's mentioned that Episode 4 is an homage to Hitchcock's Rope. It may also be worth mentioning (if there was an appropriate place to mention them) that:

• As might be expected for a Rope homage, the episode, following one establishing exterior shot, takes place entirely in one room and appears to comprise one continuous 26-minute long shot.
  • A video interview with Pemberton and Shearsmith on the official Psychoville website confirms that the episode was shot in one continuous take, with stagehands (as in Rope) moving the furniture out of shot to accommodate camera moves. Lee M (talk) 01:59, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
    • Turns out the interview is slightly misleading - the extras on the DVD reveal that it was actually shot in one approximately 17-minute shot and one 9-minute shot. Lee M (talk) 01:12, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
• The murder is accompanied by the "shower music" from Psycho - which is revealed to be playing on the radio while the murder is taking place.
• Although the episode is an homage to Rope, the actual murder weapon is a necktie, as in Frenzy.
• This is the only episode to date to focus on a single set of characters (which is inevitable given its structure).
• Apart from the actor playing the murder victim, the entire cast comprises Pemberton, Shearsmith and Mark Gatiss, aka The League of Gentlemen, and could almost be regarded as an extended LoG sketch.

Reason for deletion of edit?

In the Cast section I added a note that John Christie was based on Richard Attenborough's portrayal of him in 10 Rillington Place. I consider this relevant. It is not original research as it is lampshaded in the episode and confirmed in the audio commentary. So why the deletion? Lee M (talk) 00:20, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

The Red Raw Push Campaign for Psychoville series 2

Hi, a couple of friends and myself have started the Red Raw Push campaign for series 2. We have started a Twitter page, a Facebook group and an online petition. Just noticed that our edit was deleted as it supposedly came under the "promotion" tag. We're not making ANY money doing this and therefore didn't think it would come under "promotion" - we just wanted to reach more people so they could sign the petition which will eventually be presented to the BBC, we're just fans. We thought it would be relevant to add to the "Second Series" section as currently there aren't any plans for another - which is what our campaign is all about. PLEASE reinstate the links, we're doing it for a good cause.

Hi there, thanks for contributing but I'm afraid that this material can't be added to the article. This is because material can only be included in Wikipedia articles if it has been written about by a reliable source. If your campaign gets a write-up in something like a national newspaper, then it can be added to the article. I'm a big fan of Psychoville, and I'm sure everyone here appreciates the work you're doing to campaign for a second series, but Wikipedia cannot be used to promote any project, even if it's a non-profit organisation, no matter how good the cause is. Gap between series

What was the gap between the end of Series 1 and confirmation of Series 2? Series 2 just finished this evening and already I'm hoping for another, but there doesn't really seem to be anywhere to go beyond David's mother. Series 2 was announced along with the Halloween special about three months after the end of the first series:[2] Given the wrapping up of loose ends we've just seen I'm not going to be holding my breath for a third series, but it would be nice. Miremare 17:34, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
