Project Rocketry?[edit]

They used a balloon. How is this rocketry? Chuthya (talk) 14:13, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The rockets are used to deflect the asteroid. 76.66.197.151 (talk) 11:26, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Split apart[edit]

These are two unrelated projects, they should exist in their own articles. Each seems to be of sufficient notability, what with one even being fictionalized into a major motion picture and all. 76.66.197.151 (talk) 10:58, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - I just don't see why this has to be in different articles at all considering that both are projects performed by MIT. I think having one stub is better than having two stubs.—Chris!c/t 18:10, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - Not sure of the value of splitting of what is really only one paragraph. It may be better to make this an article about the camera stuff and turn the asteroid defense comment into an aside at the beginning. MilborneOne (talk) 10:46, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I can expand the asteroid defense section, but I won't until this is decided, as it would keep edit histories clearer if it were split first. There is quite a bit of material on the asteroid defense scheme out there. As it is, the interstellar spaceship is more notable than the camera project. 76.66.197.151 (talk) 04:32, 8 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I suggest that the 1967 project be merged into 1566 Icarus, and that the 2009 project be kept as a separate article. Reyk YO! 22:45, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • WP:SCOPE says that there should only be one topic here, not two. 70.24.248.23 (talk) 01:44, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Project IcarusProject Icarus (photography) — the photography project is not the primary topic of "Project Icarus", and the usage is split between asteroid deflection and interstellar travel. So this article, should be moved, and this should redirect to the disambiguation page Icarus (disambiguation). As most of this article is about photography, the asteroid deflection scheme needs to be removed. (along with interstellar travel, also remove it) 70.24.248.23 (talk) 01:55, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The last two sections taken together amount to merging "Project Icarus (photography)#1967" (there was no photography related to 1967) into the existing section of 1566 Icarus, which I am doing. Frieda Beamy (talk) 22:57, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
