Pompey Chimes[edit]

Could anyone comment on the order of the lines in the Pompey Chimes? Whenever I have been in the crowd, home or away, it has always sounded like "Pompey play up" as the first line and it finishes with "Play up Pompey". Happy to hear views on either side.

Also if anyone has a good sense of rhythm could they comment on my point that was reverted by the same user that the Chimes are always sung in practice in 3 4 time with the fourth note equal to three beats, and not the tricky 5 4 rhythm of the true Westminster Chimes. It is always "Play Up Pompey, Pompey Play Up; this fits the rhythm of the Westminster Chimes slightly better, and allows for a longer first note ("Plaaay") to make sure everyone knows to join in! Edit warring[edit]

A few points:

There is no need for OVERLINKing or DUPLINKing, especially where it is to a redlink.
Though the current ownership company was formed in 2012, my reading of the main body of the article is that this entity did not take ownership of the club until 2013.
- According to the annual returns, the Company bought the Club's assets from the administrator on 19th April 2013.
It should be welcome for people who are not fans of the club to make edits, as it contributes to a Neutral Point of View, which is one of the WP:5P
It is not Assuming Good Faith to revert valid edits claiming vandalism.
The article does not need to mention every single Portsmouth season. I would limit mentions to significant occurrences, there is a History of... article if people want to see that they finished 12th in 1967.

Portsmouth FC biggest win.[edit]

Wikipedia has the 9-1 victory over Notts County in 1927 as Pompeys biggest win ! The fact is wrong!! Their biggest win was in fact on 30 September 1899 versus Ryde FC in the FA Cup preliminary 1st Round Qualifier , played at Fratton Park. 2.28.22.81 (talk) 14:48, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Length of the article/notability[edit]

Would anyone have any objections if I trimmed this article down significantly or moved some of the info elsewhere? At 200,000 bytes, it has become far too difficult to navigate, almost every section of the article contains far too much non-notable info. Thanks Michaeldble (talk) 12:08, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stats updating[edit]

A quick note for the editor who updated all the Pompey players' stats yesterday as they may not see it on the talk page where I left it due to IP hopping but may see it here.......When updating stats, please can you also take the time to update the "stats correct as of" field? Every one of the edits you made yesterday was wrong and will need fixing as, for example, you left Conor Shaughnessy's article saying that he had played 35 games as of 28 October 2023, which isn't true at all -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:51, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
