Ridiculous[edit]

amusing :)

Im sorry, this is THE most ridiculous wiki page I have ever seen. 68.198.22.162 10:06, 16 December 2006 (UTC)BloX[reply]

Additions[edit]

I added and reorganized information to make it less of a advertisement and more a factual and informative description of the neighborhood.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikiwiki718 (talkcontribs) 02:19, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Randalls Island Connector[edit]

Two weeks ago I visited the island and saw that the concrete had at last been poured on the bridge, covering the rebars that had been exposed all year, though the concrete was still covered with burlap. A week earlier, the Bronx path appeared complete, to my eye. Yesterday someone told me that, as of Monday, a little finishing work remains to be done on the bridge and Bronx path. My guess is, it's a couple days work and will be finished in a couple weeks. My guesses are often wrong. Jim.henderson (talk) 12:30, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know at least! I'll add something when an article pops up. Also, thanks for all those pictures, they've been helping a lot for these articles. This area is experiencing massive revitalization, so I'll likely be on top of this 24/7 once those large 25-story market rate towers go up to at least present this area as a more residential neighborhood.EricViking32 (talk) 00:01, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As in other places, I know little more of the South Bronx than I see from my bicycle seat. Anything interesting also goes into the camera. Yesterday on the island I saw that the concrete bridge deck was exposed and an asphalt verge connected it to the greenway asphalt. Maybe another day's work remains, but who knows how many weeks that will take? I'll post the pictures eventually, but this afternoon sends me to Flushing for more photography. Gentrifying and rating[edit]

Two things. First, is it possible for me to get an updated rating for this article? (not sure if I can just do it myself, though I'd rather it be someone else) and second, would it be alright to classify this neighborhood as gentrifying? especially with all the hubbub about 6 luxury market-rate towers being built by the waterfront, along with boasting some of the highest rents in the South Bronx, I feel it's heading in that direction or perhaps already in that phase. As always, I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts on this. EricViking32 (talk) 07:02, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a header for this new topic. Few of us do ratings, because doing them right requires examining many articles so the distribution doesn't get skewed. Anyway that's why I don't. Apparently yes, some real estate people are trying to make this the next hip neighborhood, including an effort to rebrand it as the "Piano district" says this article. This is another matter which I am too lazy to judge. Incidentally I am sitting at home in Hells Kitchen, which several years ago beat back an attempt to rebrand it as "Clinton". Little bridge to Randalls Island remains closed as of a week ago.

Merging[edit]

Perhaps we should keep the Piano District page, but simply expand on it once new information regarding the towers and the amenities it attracts in the coming months. If I'm not mistaken, the proposed neighborhood is only a slice of Port Morris itself, and not the entire neighborhood nor does it refer to the South Bronx as a whole. If anything, we should add it to neighborhoods like we have Belmont (Arthur Avenue), which in this case would be Port Morris (Piano District) in the neighborhoods category. However this is all opinion and would appreciate more input, so fire away! EricViking32 (talk) 04:17, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I figure the renaming effort has neither succeeded nor been precisely defined. So far, it's just a campaign or agitation. It may succeed, at which time the separate little article can be recreated. Perhaps I may be accused of bias, being pleased at the failure many years ago of a similar but larger campaign to rename my own neighborhood from "Hell's Kitchen" to "Clinton". Had Wikipedia existed then, we might have made the mistake of renaming that article. Jim.henderson (talk) 01:26, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
