NWRA[edit]

===North West Regional Assembly===

Whilst not a directly elected body, the North West Regional Assembly is responsible for promoting the economic, environmental and social well-being of the North West England region. It is made up of representatives from councils across the region, business organisations, public sector agencies, education and training bodies, trade unions and co-operatives and the voluntary and community sector.

yep - local councilors are elected to lots of bodies that does make a tier of governing - either include ALL OF THOSE of lose NWRA - its stupid to include it as a tier of government. Mike33 06:29, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The NWRA makes decisions on the regional funding priorities of a number of government departments (e.g. deciding which road schemes are prioritised for DfT funding). Ignoring the presence of the NWRA as a political force in Manchester seems a little short sighted.
On a separate point, what are the other "lots of bodies" you mentioned? Perhaps they should be included too? Road Wizard (talk) 11:50, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
