WaterBlue

Pokémon LeafGreen is not WaterBlue... yet... and I personally doubt that the name will change at all. So please, no one change the information until it become official!

Early Tries!

In my local Wal-Mart Supercenter's Home Entertainment Department, one day I saw a kid who was using Pokémon FireRed in it's full version! (And it's only late August!) WikiPediaAid

Possibly the kid pre-ordered and got it delivered before September, or went to the NY Pokémon Center "party" and was in line for hours and hours to buy it before the offical release date, as quite a few people managed to do.

Pokemon Players Guide

I put in some important information that I found in the offical Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen Players Guide from Nintendo. Feel free to anyone to update or modify any additional Information.

Trading Pokemon

How do you trade between pokemon sapphire and pokemon fire red? I've tried to do this and it never lets me ive even used 3 diffrenet link cables and did everything the booklet told me to do. It always stops when it says please wait and after that nothing happenns and i would like to know why. Please help! If you can explain why this happens please post it up. You have to beat the eight gym leader Blaine, then you will be taken to the Sevii Islands, here you have to help a man named Celio repair his trading machine, then you can trade with Ruby and Sapphire.

You need to collect the Red and Blue jems from on of the Islands, and you need to get the National Dex. Sapphire Plate- Rainbow Island 5 Rocket HQ Ruby Plate- Rainbow Island 1 cave. To get the National Dex beat the Elite Four and have at least 6o pokemon.

You must defeat the Elite four. You must then speak to Professor Oak in his laboratory. He will award you with the National Pokedex. A man Called Celio will tell you that he will bring you compatibility between the Hoenn region(Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald) if you can find the Ruby and Sapphire gems. The Ruby will be found in One Island and the Sapphire 5 Island after using cut in the Dotted Hole and retreiving it and having it stole from a Team Rocket scientist. You then have full linkage with Ruby and Sapphire. --XenoNeon 13:55, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

Jynx

Why is Jynx's skin purple?? Is it a glich....

Black Jynx is apparently racist, so since the third generation it has had purple skin. Sonic Mew | talk to me 15:27, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

Speculation about third game

Some people note that a "WaterBlue" or "ThunderYellow" third game are not necessary. All 150 Pokemon can be found between the two versions, and the Hoenn games (Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald) allow all 386 Pokemon to be collected.

This was also true of Pokémon Red and Blue if I recall correctly. However they released Yellow, making Pikachu the selling point of the game. Can this counter argument be added in? I am unfamiliar with policy here... since I thought that up myself does it count as original research? Deskana 23:03, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

I don't see any problem with that statement. Yeah you could include that in the article. And, since Yellow was similar to the anime, you could go to Orange Islands instead of the Sevii Islands.--XenoNeon 13:47, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

In Addition to the Clock

I'm unsure so I'm not puttin it down, but wouldn't disabling the clock make the Pokérus entirely impossible to get in the game? I can testify that after 165 hours in LeafGreen, I haven't seen it-- though I haven't seen a shiny either, but they're there. --ArrEmmDee 14:31, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

Correct. You cannot catch the Pokérus. You can trade over a Pokémon with it, but I forget what happens... I think it stays infected, but doesn’t spread it. -- WikidSmaht (talk) 20:19, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

Mewtwo

I have a question about the game... can mewtwo be caught just like in Red/Blue/Yellow?--Ac1983fan (talkcontribs) 22:52, 30 April 2006 (UTC) Yes in Cerulean Cave--Alquri 22:15, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Minor Changes Section

I'm thinking of making a section that shows slight changes between FireRed/Leaf Green and Red/Blue/Yellow (such as Columbia, references to white magic removed, etc.). Do you think this is acceptable or unnecessary? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Brown Bomber (talkcontribs) at 17:40 (UTC) on May 7 2006.

Never mind, it'll go in the "other changes" section. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Brown Bomber (talkcontribs) at 17:40 (UTC) on May 7 2006.</.

Trivia

I removed the section that says Wynaut and Azurill can be acquired without trading. This is because they can't. To breed Wynaut requires a Lax Incense, and Azurill requires a Sea Incense, both of which must be traded from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. Stifle (talk) 12:41, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Actually...not true. I thought i had acquried a Lax and Sea Incense while playing FR/LG. I just checked a FAQ - on Island Five you can acquire both items, thus, you can breed them without having to trade. Hbdragon88 05:35, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Teddiursa's Sprite

I noticed that the article needs a citation for Teddiursa's sprite being changed. Would Serebii.net's Pokedex entry for Teddiursa showing its RuSa sprite and its FRLG sprite be sufficent? XXDucky21Xx 22:40, 13 July 2006 (UTC

Yeah, http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-rs/216.shtml seems citationey enough, seeing is believing! --Phred Levi 09:18, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Why does Pokemon Brown redirect to this article?

Any explanation? --ĶĩřβȳŤįɱéØ 08:13, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Pokemon Brown is an old and well-known fan hack. I have no idea why it redirects here. 67.54.145.54 14:14, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Well known by... whom? -Amarkov babble 14:47, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
I have just discovered this weird re-direct. I had never heard of "Brown," so I did a search on Google. What I found was a hack of Pokemon Red by a user named Coolboyman. Apparently, at some point, some pirates put the game into cartridge and sold it around. Anyway... the redirect to here was changed from Red by User:Blazichu, but I'm putting it back now. -- Sarrandúin [ Talk + Contribs ] 22:24, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

It doesn't anymore, i found a complete article on it on www.datacrystal.org (another version of wikipedia), and i ported the article over here, and cleaned it up. Please check the new article on it to relieve your confusion. SuperWiki5 23:08, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Overemphasis on features

The articles on games are meant to cover a general audience, but this article fails at that due to excessive lists on features. Hence, the tag has been added and should remain until this issue is fixed. - Tetsuya-san (talk : contribs) 02:39, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Also, I've taken to removing anything that references that things like glitches were "removed" from FireRed and LeafGreen - this implies that the code when the remake was being done actually contained the glitches, which is false. - Tetsuya-san (talk : contribs) 02:42, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Version-exclusive Pokemon

Should there be a section that shows all the Pokémon that are exclusive to one version? For instance, Meowth and Persian used to be available in Pokémon Blue only, and Mankey and Primape in the Red version, but Mankey and Primape are available in LeafGreen and Meowth and Persian in FireRed. It's just an idea.

No. Wikipedia is not a game guide, and that is very game guidey. -Amarkov blahedits 01:29, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Graphic comparison

I'd like to request adding a picture from the original Red and Blue games in order to compare graphic increases.

Specifically, I'd like to place this picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:PokemonRed.JPG somewhere near this picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:FR%26LG.GIF in order to compare the two. Does anybody disagree? JiangWei23 05:07, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Union Room

Should it be noted that the game over-praises the Union Room, saying you can meet people there you have never known before, and showing a picture of a bunch of people in the Union Room who apparently haven't met before? I think it's kind of bogus, I doubt that anyone has EVER met someone in the Union Room without seeing the GBA he/she is connecting to. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.9.121.137 (talkcontribs).

That certainly is true, I've never met anyone in there except if I were to be at an event/tournament at a large building. --NitemareDragon 15:55, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Third opinion

Generally, it is encouraged for editors to use the talk page rather than revert edit summaries to communicate. I would encourage those involved in the dispute to consider doing so. :) This being said, however, I would say that the less-verbose summary is a better one. While some summary of the game's content is a worthwhile part of any game's article, a blow-by-blow account of gameplay is more appropriate for a game guide, which Wikipedia is not. Seraphimblade 10:55, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

That argument is false in premise, though. The long account does not, for the most part, describe the gameplay elements, only the story progression, in no more detail than most of the film or episode synopses on the Wikipedia. At the most, it needs to be pruned lightly, not nearly eliminated. --WikidSmaht (talk) 00:29, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
You may wish to check WP:NOT an indiscriminate collection of information, where it specifically mentions plot summaries. "A lot of people do it wrong" doesn't change "It's still wrong." Seraphimblade 01:06, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Let's see this specific notation of WP:NOT:

Plot summaries. Wikipedia articles on works of fiction should contain real-world context and sourced analysis, offering detail on a work's process of authorship, its achievements, and its impact or historical significance, not solely a summary of that work's plot. In-universe information, such as a plot summary or character descriptions, may be appropriate as a brief aspect of a larger article.

It is of my opinion that the current plot snyposis contains way too much in-universe information; as I pointed out in eariler edit summaries, details about the names of the badges, the TMs, every in-game event are in-universe and does not depict it in a real-world context. Tell me why we need state in detail what the rival says in every encounter? Hbdragon88 03:29, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

I thought I would chime in. It has been demonstrated that "extensive plot summaries" are considered copyright violation. So, if the question is whether the plot summary should cover all or very little, it is clear: as little as necessary, otherwise it can be considered copyright violation. -- ReyBrujo 03:51, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

New Headers

I added headlines throughout the "Storyline" section and am doing various cleanups on his article. I pretty much wrote the Sevii Islands section, as there was not any coverage about what is done there. I'm hoping that I can clean up this article enough to have the Cleanup tags removed. --NitemareDragon 15:52, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

This article really needs a complete rewrite. Storyline section is way too long IMO; WikidSmahat said that he's going to prune it down a bit. (If it isn't done in two weeks, I'll try again, but cut out less then last time.) I organized the changes into a tidy set of lists, but now I've realized that the lists are awful and should be put into paragraphs of prose. It's on my list of things to do. Hbdragon88 21:40, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
You're right, it needs a complete rewrite. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. --NitemareDragon 02:28, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

If the storyline section needs headers, it's too long. Heck, the storyline section takes up half of the article. I'll be adding a reception section to beef it up, but something has to be cut. Nitemare, you can take a hack at the changes section if you would like. Don't be stopped by my laziness. Hbdragon88 22:18, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

I think it would be a good idea to kill everything in the article between Oak greeting the player and the final badge. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NitemareDragon (talkcontribs).

Bah, if one were to look, the contents even show that the story has too much content. It even contains in-universe information like "badges". It's best if the storyline is cut down to the basics, not describing a complete trainer account (like, in detail, which leader is battled against). It's not concise enough. And the sections really need to be cut down. - Tetsuya-san (talk : contribs) 06:51, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I took another stab at it. I kept a lot more detail than I would have liked. Let's hope that it sticks. Hbdragon88 01:53, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Johto is here —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.53.13.110 (talk) 21:25, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

This is a remake of the original R/B/Y/G games; it doesn't include the regions Johto, Hoenn, or Sinnoh. The only Pokemon games that used more than one region were Gold/Silver/Crystal--you could unlock Kanto at the end of the game. Basically, it's one region per generation, with one exception (G/S/C) :). 76.10.156.59 04:01, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Time-travel?

The visual Braille text in the game (near the ruby & sapphire plate) seems to hint (to me at least) that the linking with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald is through time-travel. Although there is evidence that seems to contradict this is, like the girl in the Pokemon Center (on Island 1?) who says something to the effect that she can now talk to her boyfriend in Hoenn. And the inscriptions I'm referring to might have actually been hinting at the plates use for long range communication. Plus, the part where it talks about 'new lands' might have been from the inscribers point of view, since it's pretty obvious that they already knew about Hoenn.

If the text is specific enough to leave no doubt that time-travel is involved, I think that it should be included in the article. Otherwise, I think this probably falls under original research.--Osho-Jabbe 05:36, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm afraid I don't understand your argument at all. The girlfriend argument could just mean that the Network Center supports long-term communication (mail through trading, etc.)—ウルタプ 13:04, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree that the girlfriend argument seems flimsy in retrospect. I'll try to check the actual text to see if it was time-travel. Although, it wouldn't be the first time that time-travel was used for trading(G/S: The Time-Machine).--Osho-Jabbe 05:36, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Third Game

OK, If Pokemon Red & Blue have Pokemon Yellow as a special edition, Gold & Silver have Crystal, & Ruby & Sapphire have Emerald, then where's the special edition for these two? What's taking them so long? Also, who here thinks it'll be called WaterBlue & who thinks it'll be called ThunderYellow? Sgt. Bond 20:09, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

The special editions you're talking about are enhanced remakes. FireRed and LeafGreen are enhanced remakes of Red and Blue, so it's very unlikely that they will get a remake of their own.--Mario Kart DS 95 15:39, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Port/remake?

I'll admit having not played FireRed or LeafGreen, but knowing they are remakes of the original Red and Blue games, do these still contain the glitches present in Red and Blue? (the Glitch City glitch, Mew, "Missingno. and 'M) ~~Neo 2.3 Hylan 10:22, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Nope. It's enterelly remade, not ported, so those glitches dont exist anymore. I'll miss the Mew glitch -.-; MegaCatZero 06:00, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Actually, Missingno kinda exists. But it requires an Action Replay. --Cheeze Master 20:04, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

has no one else noticed?

In all the guides, info, and net pages of firered and leafgreen, I have not seen a single one that talks about the elite four's new pokemon if you challenge them again. If you challenge them a second time, they will have some johto pokemon instead of doubling up on one pokemon. Gary, in my game, replaced Rhydon and Pidgeot with Tyranitar and Heracross. Does anyone else know about this? If so, please tell me.--Superbub 16:51, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

His last name is spelled Miyamoto. --Josh1billion 22:23, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Easter Eggs section

I have added the Secrets section. I feel that the Mew cameo is important, as it demonstrates a Nintendo throwback to old-school fans and the impact of the popular Mew/truck internet rumor. --Josh1billion 08:17, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Someone deleted it for no apparent reason. Deletion of sections without merit is considered vandalism. I have re-done the article as Easter Eggs and changed a few things to ensure accuracy. Questions

These are two questions that are only vaguely answered, I think. Can someone explain these a little bit more to me, please?

- FireRed and LeafGreen are basically remakes of the original Red and Blue respectively for the most part but ALSO feature another region to play in with more Pokémon than the original 150 (151)?

- You can NOT trade between the original Red/Blue/Yellow and FireRed/LeafGreen? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.10.20.7 (talk) 13:07, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
