Criticism[edit]

Howdy, folks.

I just wanted to let you know that I made some alterations to this page, adding information about a recent audit and investigation into the PVTA's finances. I also added a section on "criticism." I believe this section does not constitute an opinion, as it has been voiced by many people in the Pioneer Valley area. The complaints about customer service have been reported in the Daily Hampshire Gazette (our local paper) many times.

Thanks guys.

Thanks for the contributions.. could you please add citations for these Gazette articles? Although it may have been voiced by many people, it is still a statement of opinion and it needs to be backed up with sources. Since the Gazette has a subscriber-only web site, it would be helpful if you could post quotes from the articles to the talk page. Rhobite 18:07, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
On it folks. I bumped up the references and will pour over the articles I have with some more citations when I have some more time. PhantomPatrol (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:49, 24 July 2010 (UTC).[reply]

History[edit]

As of 1996, the PVTA was using Springfield Street Railway tokens. It seems we may be missing a chunk of history about the origins of the authority. -- Beland (talk) 17:25, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[1] has a picture of the token. -- Beland (talk) 18:40, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The correct link for the history of the Springfield St. Railway is now http://spg.nashuacitystation.com/home.php?city=springfield&content=streetrailway LReyome254 (talk) 18:31, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Routes[edit]

Needs to be cleaned up, cited, and referenced. Perhaps a better table structure as well PhantomPatrol (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 18:52, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I had to add quite a few routes, as a lot were missing. I live in Springfield, and I know the system backwards and forwards. I also had to fix some route names, as some of those were off. LReyome254 (talk) 18:13, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm curious about the color coding. There are too many PVTA routes for each to have a distinct color (without "burnt umber" and other Crayola hues being used). However, it seems like there are "clusters". Red has a few routes, green has a few, etc. So, as someone who has been in the PV before (used to live in southern VT), and seen many PVTA buses, I am curious what the various colors mean. That could maybe be touched upon here. YellowAries2010 (talk) 00:57, 19 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Critique[edit]

This article appears to be well-balanced, with reliable sources and original wording. The only issues I found were that Citation 44 doesn’t seem to correspond to what it's supposed to be a source for, as it doesn't mention the audit or the report $4 million owed to the government stemming from the audit, but instead only mentions a possible federal investigation. This citation should be updated. The Citation 45 says the initial figure possibly owed from the audit was $5 million. Lastly, the subsections under Organizational Structure (besides UMass Transit Services) lack any citations and need to have some added to validate what they're saying.
