December 2020 cleanup[edit]

I did some updating of this article, mostly in the way of adding citations and converting existing general citations into inline ones. It appears most of the material in the article is from 2009. Here are some explanations for some of my changes:

  • Deleted section "Media and Government Agency Citations", which contained two general citations. The June 7 2008 Winston-Salem Journal article, http://www2.journalnow.com/content/2008/jun/07/conservation-trusts-perform-essential-role/ had suffered URL rot, but I found it from a paid repository. It does not mention the PLC. The North Carolina Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund 2008 press release http://www.ncadfp.org/releases/2008/6-03grants.htm does mention PLC, but is very topical, not terribly relevant in 2020.
  • In the External links section, deleted broken link for Conservation Trust for North Carolina. I could not tell what that link originally pointed to, but this organization's web site http://www.ctnc.org does frequently mention PLC, and is worth noting as a possible source for inline citations.
  • Another that might be a useful reference is the July 2006 issue of Our State magazine. It is a bit dated, but has a nice summary of PLC's operations. It is available online from the State Archive of North Carolina, https://ncdcr.gov/digital/
  • I marked the paragraph of four example projects as "citation needed". Was easily able to find citations as to the existence of these projects, but not claims of them being first, smallest, or largest. Likely this info is in old issues of PLC's newsletter, but I did not look there because only the most recent issue is readily available. Also the newsletter is a self-published source.
