This really needs some material on Carey's recurring themes, such as Australian identity and historical context, and maybe some coverage of his relationship to post-colonialismDalziel 86 10:48, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Disputed Accuracy of Divorce

I am concerned about defamation as the biography of Carey contains information I consider unverified and potentially fake or untrue. There is only one source of particular information regarding Carey's relationship with his ex-wife, and this comes from a website which I would consider unreliable and definitely not a NPOV. If anybody has a reliable source, please include it soon as I am considering removing the mention of the "DatingPsychos.com" post soon. DanielBC 09:05, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

I agree. THis pages name "dating Pyschos" says it all cannot be taken as factual. should be removed. user: mango —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 210.189.164.104 (talkcontribs) 00:12, 29 November 2006.

I have removed the paragraph concerning the website 'DatingPsychos.com', as I do not believe it is poorly sourced/unverified and as the box at the top of this page states: "Controversial material of any kind that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libelous." If the page author cannot be verified as the person they claim to be, I believe this material is poorly sourced and libelous. --DanielBC 09:32, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Peter Carey on Desert Island Discs

Copied from http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/desertislanddiscs.shtml, which will change next week when the next programme goes out. This programme was broadcast 20/06/2008.

Kirsty Young's castaway this week is the author Peter Carey.

He says he grew up in his homeland “thinking that Australian history was dull and Australian literature was dull” and that he developed a strong passion to make it new and fresh. In this he has surely succeeded - he is one of only two novellists to have been awarded the Booker Prize twice.

Yet he came to writing relatively late. The son of a car salesman he started off studying science but he abandoned his university career and ended up, in his twenties, drifting into advertising. It was only then that his literary awakening began. “I announced with great confidence one day, 'I’m going to be a writer'," he says, "I’m an obsessive fool, I was determined to do it!” His record choices were:

Three times?

As of September 2010, hasn't he won the Booker Prize three times? ACEOREVIVED (talk) 23:17, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
