An Assyrian[edit]

was he assyrian?--TheFEARgod (Ч) 00:32, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, he was. Chaldean (talk) 02:29, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Western Christianity" quote[edit]

Mar Paulos on November 26, 2007, 3 months before his killing. http://www.asianews.it/index.php?l=en&art=10899

"Western Christianity" does not mean Protestantism in this quote which would begin over 1000 years after Constantine I. Don't use wiki-link "Western Christianity". Rahho is talking about Christianity of the Eastern Roman Empire and westward.06:38, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

im sorry this is ridiculous there must be something done about the deaths of innocent christians by radical muslims if we ever killed 1 cleric or caliph there would be 10000 terrorists blowing themselves up everywhere. I think its disgusting how they target the clergy. The work of cowards to attack the defenseless. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.86.188.23 (talk) 11:06, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lol I agree with the user but this is not the place. Tourskin (talk) 23:06, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Date of death[edit]

I changed his date of death from "March 13" to "March" to reflect the quote which claims that he may have been killed at the time of his kidnapping.

Regardless of whether this is true or not, if there's any reason to suspect it then it must be evident from his corpse that he's been dead for some time, which means "March 13" is likely wrong. --Saforrest (talk) 12:19, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Listing in Deaths in 2008[edit]

This person is not listed in Deaths in 2008. What's the right way to do that when the precise date of death is not known? Michael Hardy (talk) 19:35, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I see, they've listed him in February rather than March because he was last seen alive on February 29th. Michael Hardy (talk) 19:37, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One report says he may have been killed at the time of the kidnapping. Mannafredo (talk) 19:38, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

martyr ?[edit]

Should he put up under Christian martyrs ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.229.16.129 (talk) 19:47, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

wow, isn't that clearly a religious title. I'm surprised wikipedia supports such titles in its own categories for reference, if it does. --Leladax (talk) 21:58, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Of course hes a martyr. He was kidnapped and slain for his Christian beliefs. If this isn't martyrdom, what is? Tourskin (talk) 23:06, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
what's next, giving religious priests, special status in wikipedia? --Leladax (talk) 11:00, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Huh? Do you understand how the Categories work? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.180.65.118 (talk) 22:34, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Leladax, lets get your logic straight here:

1) He is a Christian 2) He is a Martyr, dieing for his beliefs 3) That makes him a Christian martyr.

Whats so difficult about my three point logic that your brain cannot fathom?Tourskin (talk) 00:39, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Guy's, guy's lets not fight. Unless the Catholic Church or the Chaldean Church say he's a martyr there is no way of officially calling him a martyr. We cannot write that in. LOTRrules (talk) 11:03, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dude who uses the word fathom I mean seriosly. If you are calling the other person stupid use small words please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.39.53.68 (talk) 01:09, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cause of death[edit]

As is stated in the entry itself, the cause of Paulos Faraj Rahho's death has not yet been determined. It cannot be ascertained whether he was killed or died as a result of some other reason, e.g. the severe physical discomfort of being held as prisoner of his kidnappers. It is very unfortunate that the Main Page entry states that Paulos Faraj Rahho has been "murdered". This should be corrected, as soon as possible, in order to reflect what is known for certain and not speculation, however well founded. We are not here to research the issue. -The Gnome (talk) 15:25, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This has now been verified and backed up with a source "the body did have gunshot wounds" Angryafghan (talk) 12:14, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"According to the SIR Catholic news agency, the kidnappers told Iraqi church officials on Wednesday that Archbishop Rahho was very ill and, later on the same day, that he was dead. It is not clear whether he was killed, or died of natural causes. Nobody has claimed responsibility for his death. Iraqi police say the condition of the archbishop's body, which bore no bullet wounds, suggests he may have died at least a week ago."[1] The only source containing a mention of "gunshot wounds" was a CNN report [2] which quoted Nineveh Deputy Gov. Khasro Goran allegedly quoting the archbishop's relatives that they saw gunshot wounds when they went, following the kidnappers' instructions, to where the dead mand's body was. This, however, has not been confirmed nor substantiated elsewhere; at least, not yet. But, if you have a source substantiating the "gun wounds" findings, please provide a link. -The Gnome (talk) 18:57, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Entered seminary at age 12?[edit]

This article says he entered seminary in 1954. If so, he would have been twelve. That seems a little implausible... --- cymru lass (hit me up)(background check) 21:39, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It happens in Iraq, but very rarely. There was once a patriarch at the age of 12. Chaldean (talk) 15:31, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
