Untitled[edit]

With Team Green, Tracy returned to the Indianapolis 500 for the first time since 1995 and crossed the finish line first but race officials penalized him, dropping him back to second place after a late-race caution flag that appeared at nearly the same time he passed Helio Castroneves for the race lead.

Very early Penske Career?[edit]

I was awfully young at the time so my memory of this could be incorrect...but I distinctly remember at least one race (a road course, I believe) early in Tracy's career at Penske while they were fielding three cars, where Tracy's car was not done up in the standard Marlboro/Penske Orange and white. The paint layout was the same, but the main sponsor was Mobil 1, and the orange was replaced with Mobil blue. Is this just a screwed up memory, or did he actually run like that once? There are several pictures in Google search. Lustigson (talk) 09:39, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistencies in win listings[edit]

I was just looking over the table of Champ Car results and the season/team breakdown chart below it. So far as I know, the 31 wins listed in the season/team chart is the accurate measurement, but the table shows him credited with 35 wins. I'm not sure exactly which wins are wrong, however, so I have not changed the table. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.17.194.97 (talk) 20:47, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • UPDATE: I found the inaccurate wins. Paul Tracy went winless in 1996, but according to the table he won four races that year. He's also listed as winning Laguna Seca in 1997, which he did not win. This also seems to indicate he has a win that is not credited on the table, but I have not been able to find it. I don't know if the points need to be changed or not, nor do I know what the points systems were in order to make the changes if needed, so I STILL have not these made the changes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.17.194.97 (talk) 20:52, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The complete Champ Car results table is completely wrong. --NaBUru38 (talk) 15:51, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did some reserch and the whole 1996 table is not Paul Tracy's results, but Jimmy Vasser's. Also the 1992 results are messed up because it lists PT as having not started at Michigan that year when he in fact finished second. http://www.champcarstats.com/ is a good resource for someone good at doing tables and such. Not only the 1996 season but also most of his listed finishes from 1995 to 2002 are actually Jimmy Vasser's! Someone probably used Vasser's results to fill out and get proper formatting for this part of Tracy's page and forgot to or was unable to change all of them.

You're right; champcarstats.com is a great site! A lot of somewhat obscure information about Indy Lights, Atlantics (even back in the 80s and 90s when there was a Pacific with the Atlantic!), and Indy Pro Series, too. 24.22.64.137 (talk) 08:12, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1994 Benetton test driver?[edit]

I have no recollection of Paul Tracy being either the or one of the test drivers for the Benetton F1 team in 1994. I know he did a test, but that was just a one-off, in my memory. So, should Tracy be stated as 'test driver' in the Career summary table? Lustigson (talk) 09:42, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Benetton testing lap time[edit]

Article says Tracys time was only 0.7 sec off Bergers pole time. According to this source (http://www.teamdan.com/archive/1994/septem94.html) Tracy´s time was 1:26.51 and Wikipedia itself says Berger´s pole time at the 1994 Portuguese Grand Prix was 1:20.608. That would be almost 6.0 sec off and last of the grid, not anywhere near 5th place. Where do those 0,7 sec come from?
