Great Wall of China[edit]

Please note that the Great Wall of China can not actually be seen from space and for that reason its mention is being removed from this article.

Hotels[edit]

Updated hotel list - the previous list was mostly areas of The Palm (fronds, shoreline, etc) and not hotels.

Flevoland[edit]

Requires research: I believe the province of 'flevoland' in the netherlands is a larger body compared to the palm jumeirah, and it is also entirely reclaimed land, making one of the claims in this article false.

Other islands[edit]

What about the other islands they're planning to build in the next few years, including two similar islands and a group of more than 300 islands supposed to be shaped into the world? Also, when they built it, they had to take into consideration several natural disasters, and had to build defences agains them, such as earthquakes, erosion, etc, so what about rising sea levels caused by global warming? Thanks. AstroHurricane001(Talk+Contribs+Ubx) 01:17, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Go to the Palm Islands article. It is about all three. By the way, on the National Geographic presentation, they said that the island actually made animal habitats better, and even attracted new species to Dubai. HaLoGuY007 23:31, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Even attracted new species" is meaningless; when they started to dump the offal in Bubbly Creek, certainly it "attracted new species" of bloodworms.
Any drastic change in an ecosystem will cause a turnover in the biocoenosis; what is relevant is the total number of species before vs afterwards, and their abundance. What you'll probably get here is a replacement of marine species by euryhaline (tolerant of salinity changes) and stenooligoxic (demanding low oxygen levels) species which are at a competitional advantage. Where the "leaves" meet the "trunk", there simply cannot be enough circulation; it may look like a palm, but it certainly ain't gonna smell like a rose garden ;-) (How to they treat the sewage?) Update?[edit]

In the first week of December, 2008, Meraas Development apparently announced that major parts of the project will be downsized or even postponed indefinitely. One might start here for details. Dysmorodrepanis (talk) 15:27, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sewage[edit]

Perhaps the sewage system from Corodex Elektomechanic can be mentioned ? see http://www.corodexelectromechanic.com/downloads/Palm%20Jumeirah%20Vacuum%20Sewerage%20System%20Case%20Study.pdf

Btw; exactly what is done with the treated remaining waste ?

"hotels and resorts"[edit]

I think this section should be removed (WP:NOTDIRECTORY), but there are a few independently notable hotels with their own articles. Maybe just those should be retained? 2A00:23C6:86A2:2701:E133:93FA:B6A0:E5BC (talk) 19:22, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
