Schedule - new season[edit]

Well the 2007 season starts in November with the HSBC Champions tournament. I propose we stick the new schedule in (it should be available on the Euro Tour website), and move the completed 2006 one to a new page, say 2006 PGA European Tour schedule, and make sure we link the new page to this one, and 2006 in golf. Rolex Series Winners[edit]

Since this is turning into an edit war between Wjemather and Jimmymci234, I think it's time to take it here. My opinion on the matter is that the European Tour has had marquee events throughout its history and it's undue weight to list, on the tour's main article, the winners in a series that began in 2017. pʰeːnuːmuː → pʰiːnyːmyː → ɸinimi → fiɲimi 18:38, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As you say, the winners list itself has WP:RECENTISM issues and gives WP:UNDUE prominence to higher profile tournaments from the past couple of years in the context of the European Tour as a whole, and should also go. Name Change[edit]

Despite being under jurisdiction of PGA, for logistical reasons, would it not be reasonable to simply name the article “European Tour”? It is clear for golf-related people that it is part of PGA, yet, for non it may seem confusing. Your understanding is incorrect. The organisation is the PGA European Tour. It operates several tours, including the DP World Tour, formerly the European Tour. PGA European Tour → European Tour – Despite being part of PGA, the European Tour’s naming has always been European Tour, now DP World Tour due to sponsorship reasons. It would be simpler as European Tour, both to search engines and to non-golf people, whom are often confused if it is a separate tour, which it is, despite regulated by the PGA. The Challenge Tour, 2nd tier of European golf, already follows what I suggest, a mere simplification. Contesting. I don't think this is uncontroversial. Tournaments are mostly prefaced by the organisation that runs them, e.g. FIFA World Cup, and this looks like it might be the common name too. Oppose. The article is about both the organisation and the principal tour it operates; the name of the organisation is "PGA European Tour". The rationale seems to be based on a lack of understanding – (it's unknown exactly which PGA organisation is being referred to but) the tour is not "part of the PGA", and "the PGA" does not "regulate" the tour. _wjemather^{please leave a message...} 11:32, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
