Choice of countries[edit]

Could mention that the Baltic countries are conspicuously absent; also, the inclusion of Austria was apparently semi-controversial at the time... AnonMoos (talk) 14:09, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ethiopia, the first victim of Italian expansion, is also missing from the set. Korea was "overrun" by Japan in 1910, 25 years before Italy invaded Ethiopia, and when Japan was still an ally of Great Britian, so it can hardly be argued that Ethiopia was "overrun" too far before the start of the war in September, 1939, to be included. At the same time, including Korea shows that the series was not concerned exclusively with "white" nations.

So, we have the three Baltic nations, excluded to appease the Soviet Union, and Ethiopia, liberated before the United States officially entered the war, but an "overrun" nation nonetheless, excluded as well.

The series could also have included the Philippines since the United States had already announced (in 1936) that it was going to restore the independence of the Philippines. 2603:800C:3944:BC00:86C:CEC3:C9A0:237B (talk) 12:35, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
