Needs rewriting[edit]

I think this article is certainly worth having, as out-of-home advertising is a significant and growing sector of the advertising industry - but this needs major re-writing. I originally put a copyedit tag on it, but replaced that with cleanup-rewrite because it needs a lot more than just copy editing.

I agree that this article has a place on Wikipedia, but the previous content was bogus, including a previous entry that asserted (without reference) that the 'industry had decided on being segmented in certain ways.' I can find no basis for this assertion. So that section has been taken out. Meanwhile, I've begun to edit and revise and make sure there are proper citations. Will keep working on this. 76.201.156.23 (talk) 04:00, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So I've made additional edits (same person as in the previous comment) to round out the opening section and to add more references. My goal is to ensure that this piece is a complete and thoughtful treatment of this industry, but I also want to make sure that is well-written and well-researched. The original entries were lacking in quality and references. I am working to fix this. 76.201.156.23 (talk) 04:32, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am done with some initial edits this evening; please look for additional revisions and additions over the next week. 76.201.156.23 (talk) 04:36, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
At a quick glance it looks good - my only immediate misgiving was whether it's a good idea to mention MediaWeek specifically. (Limited to the U.S., and only one of many media to cover the sector.) Barnabypage (talk) 10:53, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
