No Mention of Video Game and Techno Music Major Use of This Instrument[edit]

I can't list the thousands of techno songs that use the OrchHit (as was real musicians are actually calling it), also here's a list of games that use it in the music, though this is incomplete and more of a way of just pointing the direction thereof to research further:

I can think of a few recent ones off the top of my head, Fierce Battle from Metal Slug 5 by Toshikazu Tanaka uses the effect very well. Magnetic Rumble from Megaman Zero 4 uses it *alot*, as do some of the other pieces of music from the series. One of the best pieces of music from the ZX games, Soul Ablaze also uses it. Metal Scratchin' from Sonic Rush uses it, and a very classic version of it at that. If I really got down to it I could probably find two pages worth of games that use the musical effect, many of them quite recent; in the video game music genre it never became a cliche, and if someone does bother to add video game music to this page they should probably note that. Although it is used a bit less more recently due to game hardware with better instrumentation or the ability to handle digitized sound files, allowing game music composers to create their own custom punchy effects. A good early example of that is the boss music from Megaman X5 which makes heavy use of many separate punchy effects that wouldn't have been possible before the PSX.
