Olga de Alaketu's ancestry[edit]

Olga says she is descended from the Royal Aro house of Benin but has this been proven? Are there other Afro-Brazilians who can trace their lineage back to Africa?

Haley of 'Roots' fame is the only person known of the African diaspora who has been able to trace his ancestry back to Africa or well I thought so until Mother Olga. anybody with any good info? Domsta333 11:46, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Brought by the Portuguese to Brazil[edit]

Are you sure? Brazil was an independent country since more than a century ago, Portugal was a democratic Republic were slavery was illegal.Anton Olivenbaum (talk) 11:22, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Anton_Olivenbaum[reply]

Born in Africa?[edit]

That is not what is said in the Portuguese entry. Anton Olivenbaum (talk) 11:31, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Anton_Olivenbaum[reply]

in Bahia between c. 1636 and the end of the 18th century)[edit]

Doesn't make any sense. Zyttar (talk) 23:42, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That is very confusing... the article seems to conflate Alaketu's life with an ancestor from c. 200 years previously. I guess someone will clarify this eventually? Richard Move (talk) 16:36, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
