Tor Free eBook Program[edit]

This was the first book in Tor's recent drm-free eBook giveaway program. Should that be mentioned? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Personman (talkcontribs) 06:23, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Actually it was the second; Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson was the first. Scalzi (talk) 20:45, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One Alien Race?[edit]

I took out this sentence "unlike Starship Troopers and The Forever War, where wars were fought against single alien species (the Arachnids and the Taurans)." The first chapter of Starship Trooper is about fighting a different alien race ("the skinnies")! In addition I think another alien species may have been mentioned in forever war (while since I read it). Regardless, it wouldn't make much sense with just the one book so I removed the whole sentence. Makgraf 00:02, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Skip Drive[edit]

Ok, it was decided that the Skip Drive page be redirected to here, and that info on the drive could be put here. I'll settle for that even though I seriously dissagree.

Cover[edit]

I think we should have the John Harris cover for this page as both the Ghost Brigades and Last Colony have those, so it would continue the theme. Makgraf 01:23, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, it would make the articles consistent in thematic imagery. 70.55.90.218 (talk) 00:22, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. They're both fantastic covers but as far as continuity goes it would be better to use the same style of cover as the other books in the series. 173.202.0.236 (talk) 07:57, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Is this it? [1] TJRC (talk) 20:21, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
@TJCR -- That's the one! 72.161.174.16 (talk) 23:49, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Improvements[edit]

I would like some links & summery of discussions on this book and the technologies it hinges upon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Litch (talkcontribs) 05:07, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Split[edit]

I think this article should be split into an Old Man's War franchise article to overview the four books of the series and the universe it takes place in. This article should be more focused on the book. 70.55.90.218 (talk) 00:24, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing on edit-warred Ghost Brigades bit[edit]

So, 129.97.247.2, you keep attempting to add this: "There are, in fact, very few old people fighting in the war. Most of the essential soldiers are infant-clone hybrids, though this is never mentioned within the text." Now, I think this is blatantly wrong, but I'm willing to be proven mistaken. So the simple question is, if it's never mentioned within the text, how do you know? The answer to that is presumably the reliable source you would need to make this edit and make it actually stick. —chaos5023 (talk) 12:19, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Information from other books, on Old Man's War page[edit]

I just got done reading Old Man's War and couldn't help but notice that information from other books is included in the technology. These are spoilers and should have no place being on a page that is strictly about Old Man's War. I recommend removing them and adding them to other book pages. If they are already there, then they are redundant and probably eligible for removal here, especially if they are unsourced. Leitmotiv (talk) 15:39, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I edited out stuff from The Ghost Brigades. They were deemed as spoilers and irrelevant to a page about Old Man's War. Leitmotiv (talk) 15:58, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm neutral on this particular edit, as there is a basis for it other than the spoiler complaint, but please be aware that "spoiler" is not a legitimate reason to remove content from articles. See the WP:SPOILER guideline. TJRC (talk) 17:07, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Totally. But a wiki page about Old Man's War (the book) should not include information from other books. Those should be constrained to their respective pages. If somebody wants to make a page about the universe of Old Man's War then maybe one should be created. But as it stands, there shouldn't be excessive information about the universe on a page devoted to just this book.
Hence "there is a basis for it other than the spoiler complaint". TJRC (talk) 21:49, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No hence. This is a wikipage strictly about Old Man's War the book. Not the universe. If there is a desire to create a universe page, then maybe there's a basis. Until that page exists I don't see it's relevancy to this page. Leitmotiv (talk) 16:52, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As per [WP:SPOILER]], wikipedia policy is to not be concerned with spoiling the plots of stories. However, this article is about Old Man' War, not te universe itself, or the series, so should be written from that perspective. Ashmoo (talk) 13:20, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
