Move Caoránach article to here?[edit]

It appears from the Oxford dictionary that they are one and the same. As such should we merge the two articles content? Dubarr18 (talk) 18:50, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Caoránach article says that Caoránach is "an Oilliphéist", which would make them different.--NoSnakesInIreland (talk) 12:27, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am aware as I added that to it. The Oxford dictionary entry for it claims that they are both the same with different names. From what I've seen so far an Oilliphéist appears to be a collective as well referring to any great snake like creatures. Even its name is a reference to the Caoránach story (great worm like the Caoránach is in one of its original stories.)

It would seem much easier to his notability by simply combining these two pages and any others under the one banner. In that way it would also make the pages far tidier overall. Dubarr18 (talk) 12:41, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but the spelling here is quite dodgy. Oll-phéist, yes, Oillphéist, yes, the caol le caol rule in Gaelic/Irish, but oilliphéist doesn't, to me, conform to any phonetic or grammatical way of word formation. Ollphéist is what I'm familiar with as a native speaker, and I sincerely doubt the second letter 'i' in Gaelic from any age.
