None of this is actually fighting in Mariupol proper, and so I think that the present state of this article is odd. RGloucester — ☎ 15:27, 7 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Leave the article, clashes have been notable enough in the news for the last week. However I would rename it to something like Defense of Mariupol or some-such, unless the Russians breach the city in the next few days and enter it. On 6 September, seven Ukrainian Army tanks (T-64 type) faced in battle 30 advancing tanks (T-80 type),..The Ukrainians repelled the attack.[edit]

Pitiful[edit]

As we are apparently "keeping" this pitiful article, would anyone like to suggest how it should be brought up to a good standard? When and how did this offensive end, exactly? RGloucester — ☎ 21:19, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ended when they stopped fighting, that is, when Poroshenko came to the city on 8 September and said the city had been secured after which the Minsk protocol (ceasefire) came into effect in the area. The day before you still had shelling and fighting at which time the rebels advanced and captured a village on the city outskirts. EkoGraf (talk) 21:29, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It may have been signed days earlier but it came into effect in the area of Mariupol only than. And like he told the steelworker crowd, they secured the city with tanks, howitzers, anti-tanks guns etc if there come violations of the ceasefire. After his visit the shelling and fighting on the outskirts of the city stopped and until today there were almost no instances of clashes near Mariupol.
