Made a few (fairly minor in view) changes to widen the scope of the article. The lead implied that usage as a repeat award indicator is not confined to the US, but the rest of the article is entirely focused on the US military. Does anyone have any examples of other countries that use it in much the same way, particularly of any that do actually use a gold oak leaf, which is mentioned, and then it is said that the US doesn't actually use this form.

Also mentioned British/Commonwealth usage of a bronze oak leaf as an award in its own right by linking to the mentioned in dispatches article. If anyone thinks that this is inappropriate, please could we discuss it here rather than just removing it. David Underdown 12:31, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yes a very US focused article despite the fact that use of the oak leaf began and is more widely used in the British army.

but British usage is only a of a single Oak-leaf, which is described in a different article, this is about the specific US usage to mark multiple awards (so more equivalent to the British "bar" to an award than directly comparable to MiD)

I propose to amend the aesthetics of the infobox images. Rather than thumbnails (upper infobox below), the 5/16 inch star page reflects a cleaner display of the devices that can be emulated here as well (see lower infobox below). Thoughts, questions, concerns? Bullmoosebell (talk) 01:56, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch - much cleaner without the box lines around the thumbnails. Let's implement... AzureCitizen (talk) 03:30, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Service devices[edit]

DoD Manual 1348.33 V3, P. 1 (2)/P. 7, "Lists authorized service devices and appurtenances for DoD awards and decorations."
DoD 1348.33 V3, P. 16. (2) Foreign Military Personnel. "Subsequent award devices are not authorized for wear on LOM medals awarded to foreign personnel. Authorized foreign personnel who are awarded subsequent LOMs are presented another complete medal set."
The oak leaf cluster is not mentioned once as an "award device" (article introduction) nor is it mentioned that it "may be awarded" or "Awarded for" (article box) in the DoD Manual (most current awards manual). — Preceding unsigned comment added by YahwehSaves (talkcontribs) 01:19, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think that you may misunderstand. The infobox has set parameters and do not seem to always work well with devices. Cheers. EricSerge (talk) 15:37, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

11th award[edit]

For 11 awards just 2 SOLC 71.53.117.184 (talk) 23:41, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct - there was an error in the display chart for the 11th and 16th awards. I've corrected it accordingly; thanks for catching the mistake. Regards, AzureCitizen (talk) 06:19, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
