English title[edit]

There appear to be at least four versions of the title for the English-speaking world:

  1. OSS 117 Mission for a Killer (the title of this article, also as it appears in the poster)
  2. OSS 117–Mission for a Killer (as it appears in this New York Times review, also as in the article summary, though with a hyphen instead of a dash)
  3. OSS 117: Mission for a Killer (IMDb listing)
  4. Mission for a Killer (U.S. promotional materials, such as this New York Times ad)

Of these four, #2 seems the best choice because of its example in narrative text rather than promotional materials. The OSS 117 moniker in #4 may have simply been omitted for compactness. It was likely of little currency to American audiences in any event. The film's title screen is in French only, so that is of no guidance.

#1 may have been selected as the title of the article because of the poster image shown within it (below), but the lack of punctuation appears to be more of a stylistic device than reflective of the film's intended English title.

All things considered, I believe the title of the article should be changed to OSS 117–Mission for a Killer. I am also changing the title within the article to use a dash instead of a hyphen.
