Recent move[edit]
Are there any sources that actually uses the term "The New Church"? If not it should be moved back to Nykirken. Rettetast (talk) 22:15, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
- New Church is Nykirken in Norwegian. Oro2 (talk) 14:30, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- That is correct, but we don't literally translate given names if isn't already used in English. I did a short search and I found that English websites reffered to the church as Nykirken. Rettetast (talk) 15:03, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- Same issue with Korskirken moved too Cross Church, Bergen. Rettetast (talk) 10:23, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with Rettetast, we generally do not translate given names unless the subject is generally referred to by an English name in English sources. Inge (talk) 16:58, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with Rettetast and Inge. Korskirken means "The Cross Church", not "Cross Church". Same with Nykirken. In any case, it's a dangerous practice, as translation is not a precise art. The translation back again will often not be correct. (Krosskyrkja? Nykyrkja?) Let these buildings and institutions keep their proper names! - Hordaland (talk) 10:34, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Moved both pages back. Rettetast (talk) 13:40, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
