Noseclip or nose clip?[edit]

"Noseclip" more often referred to as "nose clip." Is there a way to change this in the title?

Anonymous, I disagree: It is usully treated as a single word these days, and thus it should remain in the title, with a note mentioning the alternative. --Wally Tharg (talk) 10:47, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Critical[edit]

Why is "The nose clip is a vital piece of equipment for synchronized swimmers"? cheers 79.176.221.122 (talk) 19:38, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Because if you swim inverted for any length of time without exhaling, chlorinated water will enter the nasal passages, and this is most uncomfortable. (Try it and see!) Swimmers get away with it because they are inverted for shorter periods, and exhale through the nose to exclude water. But if you're underwater for a minute or two, as in synchronized swimming, you cannot keep up the exhale without danger of blacking out. --Wally Tharg (talk) 10:47, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Smoking illegal substances[edit]

"Noseclips are sometimes used in smoking illegal substances as a tool (...)" – By who, where and when? This seems totally ridiculous. If you can hold your 'hit', you can hold it by all routes. But if you need to cough or expel it, you're going to cough it out by whatever route – the mouth and/or nose. That's one difficult reflex to suppress. And a noseclip alone isn't going to fix it.

It seems perfectly reasonable that people use them for this purpose. But I agree it needs a reference – why not try and find one? --Wally Tharg (talk) 10:47, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
