Japanese transliteration[edit]

Why is there a Japanese transliteration of Mineta's name? He is an American, and has been all his life. It seems peculiar, akin to giving the Gaelic transliteration of Irish-American names, or the names of German-Americans written in Gothic letters. If there's not a good reason for it, I think it should be removed. (Or, if it has to stay, at least extend him the dignity of finding the kanji characters for his name. Using katakana seems rather inauthentic; it's doubtful that his parents would've written it that way, but rather it appears to be a phonetic transliteration of an American name back into Japanese for a Japanese audience.) I was really surprised at the katakana, I thought Mineta had been born overseas. But he wasn't. The Kanji characters are most likely to have been given to him by his parents since he does carry a full Japanese name. That would be appropriate. - I agree that the point of the differing timelines is unclear. Worse yet, both timelines are wrong, and so are other details. Norman Mineta was considerably confused about what he witnessed and when. As a matter of fact, he did not enter the PEOC (White House bunker) until after 10:03, when the last plane (UA93) crashed. What the "aide" was calling out then was not the radar position of AA77; instead, it was the virtual position of UA93 in a system called Traffic Situation Display (TSD), which displays flight progress according to flight plans. TSD did not know that UA93 had crash and instead displayed it as flying to, and landing at, Reagan National Airport, near the Pentagon. Add WWII internment to Personal Life[edit]
