Restoring information[edit]

At 22:55, 17 April 2015‎, Administrator Nick-D removed over 17,000 bytes of information because it was created by a banned user using sockpuppets. After some thorough editing, I have restored some of the information that has been deleted. I was wondering if there was anything that was missed, or can be added back. Inclusion of the Thomas case[edit]

I currently have the case of Arthur Allan Thomas within the article, although I have commented it out. I would like to formally start a discussion whether or not this case should be included in the article. To retain it, there is a need for citation indicating that Hutton and Johnston planted the evidence to convict Thomas because they 'knew' they where sure of his guilt. It would help if anyone was able to find the official court case in which Thomas is first convicted.

Below is what I have written if we are to include it in the article:

In 1971, farmer Arthur Allan Thomas was convicted of shooting to death Harvey and Jeannette Crewe in Pukekawa, New Zealand. While intially found guilty, he was released after a Royal Commission of Inquiry. The Inquiry found that police officies Hutton and Johnston had planted .22 rifle cartridge cases on Thomas' property. Thus, they "[manufactured] evidence that Mr Thomas' rifle had been used for the killings."^[1] Thomas was officially pardoned, released December 1979, and awarded compensation of NZ$950,000 for his nine-year stay in prison and loss of his farm.^[2]

The editor who added this material has a history of misrepresenting sources, including when writing about living people (which is a major violation of WP:BLP), so any of this material needs to be very carefully checked against reliable sources before being added - remembering that anybody who re-adds it becomes responsible for it. The references here are to documents on somebody's personal website, and are not reliable sources. It should be possible to cite the Royal Commission report to a reliable website. Hey everyone. The page looks good overall but I feel that it could have more information, specifically on noble cause corruption outside of policing, causes of noble cause corruption, and potential or enacted efforts to combat it.
