Aircraft name[edit]

The page at http://lightningautogyro.com/lightning.aspx says "The Lightning is an innovative project designed and manufactured by Niki Rotor Aviation and distributed in North America exclusively by Helicopters International, LLC." Thus Helicopters International is not the manufacturer, but just a distributor. This means that the aircraft is really the Niki Rotor Aviation Lightning and should probably be moved to Niki Lightning as per Wikipedia:WikiProject Aircraft/Naming "manufacturer-designation-name". - Ahunt (talk) 20:38, 28 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Drive to propeller[edit]

I'm still looking for citations. A photo of the installation makes it clear that the prop cannot be co-axial with the crankshaft (otherwise the tail boom could not be fixed). Making a virtue of necessity, it seems that the belt drive may have a reduction ratio of, say, 3:2, thereby allowing a decent sized prop which would turn at a maximum of only 2,200 rpm. Yes, but the engine is mounted below the tailboom, as in the picture , which shows 5 toothed belts driving a reduction gear. Arrivisto (talk) 16:11, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but it is still parallel to the crankshaft, at least! The current text says the tailboom is coaxial to the prop, which seems to be the case. - Ahunt (talk) 02:08, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
