Slacker: Skokiaan vs Graskop Polka[edit]
According to SA Rock Legends the tune "Graskop Polka" on Columbia 33JSX 11015 (which forms part of a medley) is in fact the one appearing at the end of the film "Slacker". See "Slacker" Movie Note. (About halfway down the page).
I have not had access to Columbia 33JSX 11015, but I am very unsure of this "fact" for the following reasons:
- I have watched the end of the movie "Slacker" and the tune in question is undoubtedly called "Skokiaan". It is available on YouTube and called "slacker ending song".
- The Soundtrack listing in IMDB lists a "Graskop Polka" by Nico Carstens in the film, but also notes that "Skokiaan" is the tune played during the end sequence of the movie. It does however not identify who plays it.
- Nico Carstens have recorded at least two other instances of Skokiaan (a standalone version on Columbia SCXJ 11188, and as part of a medley on Columbia 33JSX 11015) and in both instances he called it "Skokiaan".
- I have in my possession a copy of Horst Wende's "Africana" album with his rendition of Nico Carsten's composition called "Graskop Polka" - and it is definately NOT another name for "Skokiaan" as claimed.
