Is there a good reason why there isn't a category for recipients of this medal? Should there be one? Pinging Grutness and Paora. Schwede66 21:03, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not that I can think of. I know that some categories for civil award winners have been taken to CfD in the past, but there seem to be enough of them around and surviving that one for this award wouldn't be out of place. Grutness...wha? 22:03, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
S'alright - I'd completely forgotten about it! Grutness...wha? 22:19, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Paora and Grutness, hah, wouldn't it be clever to make a record of these deletion discussions when there is an existing list article (this article was started in 2010)? That would have stopped me asking the question, I suppose. I guess we'll leave things as they are. Related question: is Category:Recipients of the New Zealand Suffrage Centennial Medal 1993 that a defining award? Schwede66 22:20, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Possible, possibly not... I'm willing to let sleeping dogs lie as far as that one's concerned, but if anyone else wants to nominate it I'm fine with that. Grutness...wha? 22:53, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Suffrage Medal was for people who made "a significant contribution to women's rights or women's issues". That sounds defining to me! And there were only 544 issued, compared with over 3600 1990 Medals. Most if not all of the NZ team at the 1990 Commonwealth Games got a 1990 Medal, most politicians got one, if you served on a committee that organised a 1990-themed cake stall you got one...
